Wii Troubleshooting

Grr, I'm having an annoying problem with my Wii!

Right, so I've got it all set up, etc. I decided to update it, and so I went into the update screen, selected which network to connect to, etc. This is, I must have connected to a different wireless network that I don't own. The 'first' update completed successfully, but then it started again with a second update and now it is hanging around 40%.

The other wireless network may have been deactivated, gone out of range, etc. However, when I turned off the power on the console, when restarted it goes straight back into the update screen, with no option to stop it!

It has been hanging at the same point for 2 hours now. How would I stop this update from downloading, or, how do I select a different wireless network to download it from? Thanks very much in advance!

Try moving to a location with a stronger signal. My cousin had a similar problem with trying to exit update, but we couldn't find a way to exit. Took it 3 hours to update, just move to a better location and then set it to update overnight.

wii remote

my wii remotes won't work (neither of them - i have 2). when i push any button on them the wii wont respond it just flashes down the bottom (the 4 lights). i've tried resyncing them numerous times but still they won't work. i've also tried taking the batteries out. The controls are only a week old.

I had this same problem a few times. If you're using a Wi-Fi adapter, reboot your computer. Make sure you turn the Wii completely off, not just in standby mode. Wait a little-bit then turn the Wii back on. Might take a few times, but it keeps you busy while your Wii-Motes are napping.

If you know the SSID of your wireless device then just input the info manually on the Wii. I think you can get away without running a connection test if you do this. Don't quote me on that though. Also, if you aren't using a WEP key someone could have logged into your wireless adapter, and that slows down your connection a lot. The other day before I enabled WEP keys, someone logged into my Wi-Fi adapter, and setup a WEP key, so I couldn't use it. I said $^@ and renamed my adapter and put on a key. Some people are such Pricks.

They can't set up a wep key if you have a password to log in to your router settings. It wasn't about the SSID with my cousins wii though, it was like it wouldn't connect to the internet services, but it did connect to the router. I have heard of quite a few problems with wii and wep key though.

Umm... It was no big deal, but you should read more thuroughly. I said, "The other day BEFORE I set up my WEP keys." Meaning. I didn't think I needed to, then somebody locked me out of my own system. I have a wired router, but I'm using the Wi-Fi Max adapter. I statred using the Keys after that incident, and now I have no problems at all.

Actually, i did read closely. i was talking about a router password, i have no WEP key, and you cant access my router unless you have my router password. That wifi adapter should allow you to put a password to access it's settings. i would like to put a wep key on my router, but my parents would have problems with it and make it more trouble than its worth...

I'm having some connection problems. I have a wireless D-link router, the DI-624. Its firmware is updated. i know how to access it, i added the Wii in on a static server, and i manually put in all of the information needed on the wii (IP address, security, everything needed), i tried the connection test and it still wont work! does anyone have any suggestions?

Firewall. Always check the firewall. Make sure it's off.

hmmm, im at the firewall right now.....and it wont settle with a simple "disable", it wants me to state the name,source IP range start, source IP range end, Destination IP range start, Destination IP range end. any ideas what this means?

Unfortunately no. I don't. Never dealt with wireless routers. Sory. Keep asking. I'm sure there's someone around here who can help.

I need help. My Wii Remote is not working. The light's are flashing on it when I press the power button. I have the sensor on top of the television and it still doesn't work. I tried reprogramming it, it didn't work. (I'm not sure I know how to reprogram it the right way, but it wasn't working). I just found out today how to hook up my Wii to the internet and then the Wii Remote ends up not working. Does anybody know whats wrong with it???

To sync properly, first press the red button under the battery cover on the remote. While the remote is flashing, press the sync button on the console. its located under the sd card slot cover. The instructions to sync are on page 20 of the white Wii Operations Manual: System Setup, if that doesn't work then CALL NINTENDO. Does anyone read the manual to look and see if it has a solution?

Well see, the problem is that I lost the Wii Manual, and all the stores don't have any...
