Uh oh, could there be a not so perfect Falco in my presence? SHL pretty much equals OWN. Short Hop Laser. When you Short Hop, shoot a laser, and fast fall. Try it. The fastfall removes the lag from the attack, so you can repeat it. And you could argue that shooting lasers from ground is better because more lasers get out in same period of time, but when you try to stop the lasers theres LAG. Plus you can move back and forth with SHL and you can shoot at different heights. You probably knew that though, just not the terminology.

SHL easy to avoid.
If you're Dr Mario, jump in air when Falco SHLs and then cape the SHLs back at falco when falling then follow with Pill rush. Annoys most falco players.
To me, when players use SHLs its usually to evaluate other player's skills. If opponent simply shields when hit with SHL and stands there - often a noob, unless he has a trick under his sleeve. Same thing can apply if opponent just runs to falco, regardless of being hit by SHL.
Fox + Falco is regarded as top tier chars according to tournament records but a noob starting with either of them will have a hard time getting the hang of their chars advantages as it requires fair amount of tech skills... Usually more than any other character.
Link is overall a good character against most characters except for fox, falco, and sheik. Roy? - I'd pick Marth any time. Roy is like a cut down version of Marth as his aerials are weaker than Marths and for tipper attacks require the opponent to be hit in the middle of the sword, not the tip of the swords (Marths), which can often lead to traded attacks between Roy and another character. But the only good adv Roy has over Marth is his ground attacks.

There my top three. i have only lost one time, and it was to someone using Doctor Mario... anywho, i will also be getting SSBB as soon as it comes out (in Japan)
I use Falco... And wat does all that SHL thing mean? Im pretty good, havnt really lost a match but then again i havnt versed too many people who are too good at the game.

Put simply, do a short hop, b, fast fall, then b again. Repeat.
The fast fall aspect of the technique gets rid of the lag time between lasers and results in falco/fox having very fast sucession lasers. I recommend you look up smashboards.com for more info. People have written heaps of stuff on the techs for every character in the game.
