Double Edge gets 1.5x the power as Strength. Besides, save it for the (hopeful) Sharpedo.

^ Which is still less than Fire Blast 'n EQ, also with 1/3rd recoil. I'd never use the move in a Nuzlocke. That's crit-KO bait like nothin' else.

Could learn it from Move Tutor.

Nope. Double Edge ain't a free tutor move ya can find outside the Battle Frontier.

Ummmm... the rest of his move list sucks.

Nope. Rock Slide is an excellent move, 'n Sunny Day is also quite good. Explosion is godlike in Nuzlocke.

What about Protect?

[STRIKE]Nope.[/STRIKE] It ain't useless, so it'l do. Took ya long enough. Camerupt now fears no Dives. Yay...

Rock Slide/Sunny Day/Double Edge? No, ya never suggested those.

Combined Nuzlocke Challenge

Valkyon - Pokemon Emerald (Using the java tool, Emerald Randomizer) - Single/Nuzelocke

Side note: the Pokemon Emerald Randomizer does just what it says, randomizes starters and wild pokemon encounters using a list of the some 300 pokemon in the national dex.

EDIT: the three starting pokemon were all unable to defeat the zigzagoon due to either no damaging moves or ghost type attacks only. Trying again.

Edit #2: The selection was Beldum, Teddiursa, and Aron. Chose to go with Beldum because although it is a Pseudo-legendary, it's only move until level 20 is takedown, so this will be difficult for a period of time.

Final Edit: the Nature is Rash, so not the best it can be, and my rival chose Mudkip... I'm so dead if I don't Grind like Tony Hawk.

Final Edit #2: I just found my Pokemon Platinum underneath my pile of stuff on my desk, so I want to do a 5 Pokemon Nuzelocke/ Scramble/ monotype (normal) from eggs (the 6th will be the togepi egg from Cynthia unless that's not cool). At what point do I get to Trade over Wi-Fi? I'm stopping after beating Roark just the be safe.

Final Edit for Realises: How do I make parts of my posts spoilered? I don't want people to just tl;dr...

Just put the word spoiler in brackets, so it looks like ["spoiler]insert text here[/"spoiler"], only without the quotations marks.

Thank you. So I've got three plans for challenges, and have gotten started on a couple of them.

Challenge # 1: Pokemon Emerald Randomizer: Beldum Nuzelocke Edition

This is a pokemon emerald run with a twist: my starter is beldum and is the only pokemon I can use, addtionally all wild pokemon encounters are randomized IE normally encountering a level 3 Wurmple, the randomizer changes that into a level 3 Jirachi.

Progress:

I've chosen Beldum as my starter. Named it Xenom, and it's a rash nature. Not a bad choice, but the first 20 levels will be hard. My rival chose Mudkip, however, so this run will be short unless I Grind like a hamburger ('cause you have to grind the meat before making the patty...get it?...no?)

The second I step into the grass for the first time, I come across a level 3 Pincir. Easy xp I suppose. The first trainer battle was also easy enough, May couldn't do anything to me damage wise, although I took 7 damage from my only attacking move. Moved onto the next route soon enough, trained a bit in the grass and fought every trainer. Not much to see here.

Got the the bit with Wally. I know the scene is scripted, but the chance of finding a ralts in the grass has lowered from 5% to 0%. How did it appear? This question puzzles me to this day.

speeding up to north of rustboro city. Had a bit of a scare, I calculated that there was about a 15% chance of encountering a level 7 magneton, most of which if not all I couldn't run away from due to magnet pull. One of these hit me with a critical thundershock for 12 damage after I grinded to level 18. otherwise everything was dandy.

Once Xenom evolved into a metang, I took on the gym challenge. Almost everything was a one hit due to metal claw STAB and a 46 Atk stat.
Badge get!

Part 2: Brawly Blues

The whole bit with Team Aqua was a bit annoying, but I saved the wingull yadda yadda blahde blah. Fought with May again, and Mudkip still isn't evolved so I was safe. Got to Briney's cottage alright, and ran straight for Granite Cave (I don't need no flash). Caught a scalemence as a slave (fly, rock smash, strength, and cut!) and had my first run-in with a legendary. Five of them in fact. The replacer for Zubat in the cave was Celebi, so that was fun. Gave the letter to Steven, and ran back to Brawly's gym.

Nothing to bad here luckily. had a double battle though, so Slave the Scalemance had to spam leer, it's only non-attacking move. When I finally got to Brawly, I was incredibly cocky. I had a level 24 Metang, what was I to fear? Machop was a 2HKO from confusion, and Makuhita was a 4HKO due to a super potion. When meditie came out, I thought I could take anything it threw at me. I started with a take-down, thinking I'd 1HKO, and I missed. the meditite set up with a bulk up, and I was fine with it... until the next turn.
"Meditite is tightening it's focus"\
no no no no bad bad bad. Don't miss please please please!
"Metang's attack missed"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Lucky for me, however, Metang took it like a bawss. Although he was left with 13 HP, I was able to hit on the next turn. Badge get!

After cleaning up with Brawly, Metang and I went to slateport and beat some grunts up after stealing all of the beach kid's money. And that's where I stopped for the night (all this was recap from 8-11 PM last night).

Challenge # 2: Pokemon Leaf Green: Top Percent Edition!

I'm sure everyone has gotten called by him. You know, in gen 2/4, good Ol' youngster joey raving about his "top percent ratata." So I thought to myself, How can I possibly make a challenge worthy of Joey's good name? How about I do a run of Pokemon Leaf Green, with my only pokemon being a Ratata! I will not be treating this as an enevolved, but this will be a single challenge in what I thought to be one of the, if not the hardest games to play without grinding for hours.
Addtionally, I'm considering giving Fang 6 lives so at the ninth white out, I lose the challenge.

Progress:

Not much to say here, ATM
. I chose Bulbasaur as the starter, and am training my Ratata, Fang, to level 10 at least before fighting gary for the second time.

Challenge # 3: Platinum Monotype (Normal) Mystery Egg run!

I lost to my router in a day long battle between being able to get the friend code even ;_; . Changing Challenge # 3 to...

Challenge # 3: Platinum Monotype Nuzelocke!

The typing will be the first liable option that comes up in the forum. This will be excluding types such as ghost and dark, because the first time I'll be able to come across either of those is past the second gym. My personal rules are as follows:
1. Catch the first pokemon I come across that is or will evolve into the typing of choice. if the first pokemon I come across is not of the type, then I get to keep looking.
2. Nickname every pokemon! additionally, don't spend five minutes trying to decide what name fits it best. whatever comes to my head first, the name will be.
3. 2 pokemon center heals per town, and another one after a successful gym battle.
4. I can only buy 10 items per town mart, and another 5 if a gym leader is beaten in the town I bought from. This won't change too much early on, but will limit me late game from mass buying 100 full restores.

I'm taking suggestions for the monotype, and will be here for at least the next 6 hours (I'm a night owl). Thanks all!

Welcome to the forums, Valkyon. Active challenger, ain't ya? Puttin' me to shame. A slight issue with one'a your challenges, however. Since you're usin' the randomizer for your Emerald challenge, which obviously ain't a part of the original game, the challenge can't be considered official. I won't stop ya and certainly encourage ya to keep postin', but ya won't get into the Hall of Fame upon completion.

I wish my Steel-typed Poke in my Emerald Nuzlocke was fighting neutral... ;_;

From experience, there're two types that add a shitton to any Nuzlocke; Rock 'n Ground. It's commendable how many extra rules you've added onto your Platinum Nuzlocke, so if you wanna drive yourself up to even higher difficulty, Monotype-Nuzlocke Ground. A dare I wouldn't blame ya for not acceptin'. My Single/Unevolved/No Item Nuzlocke was a bloody nightmare since I used a Rhyhorn. Fightin' a lowly Wooper made me sweat.

Oh, and sorry for the late response. Haven't had PC access in awhile, normally I'd respond within a day to any challenger. So yeah, Challenges #2 and #3 are accepted.

Sounds reasonable. I think I will do a monotype ground nuzelocke then. The item limit is going to change though, I'm thinking 15 per, and an additional 5 when I beat a gym leader.
Otherwise, I have no updates. The 1 percent challenge was way harder than I thought it would be, so I'm restarting it. Too bad about the beldumlocke, so I've got to find another way to use my emerald. Howzabout a scramble/ moveset, 3 man team?

The good ol' utter-randomness Challenge. Challenge Accepted!

I'll give ya a Castform; but not the moveset for it just yet. I'll decide on that once ya get your other Pokes.

Camerupt:

Oi, you gave 'er the moveset, give 'er a nickname. If ya can't give enough of a **** to name it anythin' good, name it somethin' anyways. Name it Tpuremac for all I care.

Challenge Update

Finished with Surfin' around and beatin' up all the trainers for some level grinding, I headed off to Mauville and into Route 118 and then 119. Numel evolved into Camerupt almost immediately, so now it's Overheat hits like a ****in' volcano. ... SEE WHAT I DID THERE?! HAHAHAHAHAH--no.

May is fallin' behind my Pokes more and more as the game goes on. Balderdash destroyed Slugma in one mudshot; what a shock; and her Wingull fell to two Ice Beams. Camerupt destroyed Grovyle unsurprisingly, though it did miss on the first Overheat. Leaf Blade did laughable damage anyways, two crits in a row wouldn't of stopped 'er. After the battle, I nabbed the Leaf Stone down by the waterfall 'n evolved Kesumayat. Now my entire team's evolved at least once. :D

In the spirit of irkin' me, an Absol appeared on my way to get the Devon Scope as the first Poke of Route 120... Would'a liked to have an Absol. =/ sadface. Regardless, I went on to own Fortree's Gym Trainers and evolved Balderdash into Swampert as a result. Though Winona is definitely the first Gym Leader with a dangerous team, my team is far moreso.

Out comes the dreaded hat bird... ugh. i forfeit alredy

It decides to throw up a Safeguard while dyin' horrifically to Ice Beam as it deserves. Next comes Tropius as predicted, so I answer with Camerupt. Overheat decides to miss, unfortunately... And it gets up Sunny Day, ensuring Camerupt eats a Solarbeam next turn. It doesn't do massive damage, but Camerupt's HP certainly didn't appreciate it, knockin' it to around 50%. Overheat obliterates the poor thing in harsh sunlight afterwards.

In true derpy fashion, Pelipper shows it's ugly mug in the harsh sunlight. I've nothin' to fear really; well, except a crit, so I get Camerupt the hell outta there and answer with Swampert. I've learned from my mistakes (ohai Meditite @ Focus Punch), and took this exchange slowly but surely. Ice Beam was just barely a 2HKO, while it's one Aerial Ace did paltry damage (and failed Protect spam). Next out is her Skarmory, so out comes Camerupt again. Overheat demolishes once more, and she's down to her last 'mon; her ace. Yet again, another ****in' hatbird... grnwingiornhioegtuioeunoner

Normally I'd send out Steve to tank both of it's STABs, but prior to the battle, I researched her Poke's movesets as always in a Nuzlocke. Discovering it knows bloody Earthquake, I sent out Swampert to finish the job. One nasty Ice Beam and it's all over, Winona didn't stand a chance. Feather Badge get!

Apparently Dirge was a part of the scrap too, since he's damaged... T'was five days ago, I can't remember exactly what happened. ¬_¬ A Slowbro would recall things clearer than I do. That aside, I saved right in the gym. "I'll heal up tomorrow..." But then, a power outage. Nature, y u so spiteful?

The Team is as follows:

Balderdash (Swampert), lv. 36
Naive
Holding an EXP. Share... ?

Moveset:

Mud Shot
Surf
Ice Beam
Take Down

Dirge (Vigoroth), lv. 34
Lonely
Holding a Silk Scarf

Moveset:

Cut
Secret Power
Bulk Up
Slack Off

Steve (Lairon), lv. 33
Hardy
Holding a Quick Claw

Moveset:

Rock Smash
Metal Claw
Iron Tail
Rollout

Kesumayat (Vileplume), lv. 30
Mild
Holding a Miracle Seed

Moveset:

Sludge Bomb
Stun Spore
Sleep Powder
Bullet Seed

Camerupt, lv. 33
Relaxed
Holding Charcoal

Moveset:

Overheat
Strength
Rock Slide
Magnitude

Dirge is gonna be fully evolved soon, and rightfully become the King of Slacking that I am. Once that's achieved, my focus will be Steve. A meager 11 more levels means it ain't gonna be long 'till my entire team is fully evolved. At this rate I might not lose a single Poke 'till the final six battles (I ain't gonna make the mistake of underestimating Wally, nope). Who knows, I might not lose even one the entire challenge. That'd be lovely.
