AtomicB said:Dark Samus isn't really a staple in the Metroid Series. Yes, she's the main antagonist in the Metroid Prime series, but Ridley has been there since the beginning. That, and Ridley is much more developed as a character.
He's the reason Samus has her suit.
Shoko said:The fact that Ridley's been there forever isn't a valid arguement for him being in Brawl. It's actually kinda the other way around: The newer characters/things should be in. Mostly everything is Brawl is from Wii or GameCube games, not NES. The TP models, the items, the stages, they're all from Wii and GameCube games. See where I'm getting at? All because he's a Nintendo veteran dosen't mean he's the most deserving.
Here's a perfect example: Daisy was really the first Princess in the Mario Series. But they still put Peach in instead and Daisy's not in Brawl. They dropped Daisy. Out with the old and in with the new.
Now, I'm not saying he CAN'T be in, I'm just saying that him being old dosen't mean anything.
Wii and Gamecube games, OK...Ridley has been on both of those consoles.Shoko said:The fact that Ridley's been there forever isn't a valid arguement for him being in Brawl. No, like Atomic said, she didn't get in because she was the newest and most familiar of the two, is was because Peach played a much more prominent role then her counterpart, Daisy. Here's a perfect example: Daisy was really the first Princess in the Mario Series. Him being old doesn't necessarily mean anything, no. Being a main protagonist that reoccurs nearly every game in a huge franchise, does. Now, I'm not saying he CAN'T be in, I'm just saying that him being old dosen't mean anything.
What point are you talking about exactly? (and nice new sig ;])AtomicB said:I was deadly opposed to him, but after Olimar came in, my best argument against Ridley was thrashed.
AtomicB said:Brawl is about Nintendo's All-Stars.
Peach didn't get in because she was newer, she got in because she was the bigger of the two. Daisy has long been ditched, but Peach had been in almost every Mario game since Super Mario Bros.
Ridley is almost the same, but it's a different scenario.
While Dark Samus has since become the main antagonist of the Metroid Prime series (And it's just that. Only the prime series.) Ridley has still appeared in almost every Metroid game.
Brawl isn't out with the old, in with the new.
It's in with the Stars. It isn't about Nintendo's new IP's coming in, it's about all of Nintendo's stars.
And Ridley also has a very recent design.
He was in Prime 3. Heck, he was in Prime 3 twice!
His character isn't something stuck in the past like Pit. He's been moving right along with Samus in time. Just like Mario started on the NES but is still a modern character.
I'm not saying Ridley will be in. Heck, if you go back in this thread, you'll find me arguing against Ridley! I was deadly opposed to him, but after Olimar came in, my best argument against Ridley was thrashed.
So, all I'm saying is Ridley is much more likely than you might think. (He also scored high in the polls.

Atomic, I agree totally, but what did you mean by this?
What point are you talking about exactly? (and nice new sig ;])
Yea, they don't HAVE to use the most current model, but what I'm saying is is that they WOULD use the most current model. You gotta admit, it only makes sense.ssbb_lover said:...But, he doesn't HAVE to. There's no law saying, "You must use the most current model of this character or not put him in at all." If Sakurai truly wanted to implement him into the game, he could simply use a past model.
For clarification, I'm not saying "HEZ GONNA BE A CHAR IN BRAWL AND DERZ NUTIN U CAN DEW." I think he has a high, high chance of being in Brawl, and I believe that he SHOULD be in Brawl.

@ Atomic: I see, that's interesting. I was wondering why I haven't been getting the "HEZ TOO BIG" argument lately...till Shoko asked it.

^There was no point of using the Galaxy Bowser. That one was just as big as the 64 and they didn't even use him. That's why they didn't use Galaxy Bowser. Plus, they wouldn't be able to use him anyways cause that one was like just as big as Giga Bowser. So what would happen if the Galaxy Bowser grabbed the Smash Ball? He would take up the whole screen, that's what would happen.AtomicB said:
Not exactly. They didn't use Galaxy Bowser, Prime 3 Samus, or even the newest Pokemon Trainer.
But does it really matter what model they use?
