Finally got around to watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica, the 12 part anime at least, I know there's movies too, which I'll get to. It was good, though I didn't like it as much as I thought. I had high expectations going in due to two of my female friends who are obsessed with the show. I think I liked it less than Devil is a Part Timer and Angel Beats. Maybe I should watch it again, it feels like I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have.

The popularity of the show is attributed to it being a lighter Evangelion but with magical girls instead of... Shinji. Tumblr says that yuri shipping is the best part, even though the show itself never had fanservice.
Considering watching that eventually.
Aside from in the opening, which still isn't yuri.
