What he means by AAA titles is they need to be exceptional like Assassin's Creed could be... not the **** titles that released when the PS3 launched. Now if PS3 had released with a new GTA there would have been a major boost in sales. I would buy a PS3 if they had good games. I had a PS2 and I regret it so much. The only titles I liked were the sport games (Madden, NBA, NHL) and San Andreas. While the Gamecube had Melee, Sunshine, Metriod, Zelda, Mario Party, ANimal Crossing etc. The thing that turns me off Sony is the games, they are so boring.

1. its NOT expensive at all. Its actual worth is over $1200. There are only two kinds of people who complain that its expensive, poor people and jobless people. Its price is actually very reasonable.

2. Its like looking at the latest gaming computer rig, (they run upwards of $1500-6000) and it doesnt have an operating system installed on it. Then saying, it looks good. It makes perfect sense. Apply the same thought to the PS3.

3. the PS3 at the moment can run Linux OS. Hackers and Modders are playing around with its potential, and if its anything like my PSP that can play movies, music, can run and play nes, snes, gba, sege genis, game gear, nintendo 64, and playstation games to name a few, then a lot of people will love it even more.

yes the PS3 can look good. But if your only reason for being here is to be a fanboy, then you can get the hell out.

Becasue you have to have AAA games to make that price worth it. Sure the Wii doesn't have the greatest library right now, but they don't need it as badly because the $250 price gives them some slack.

But if the PS3 gets the games it will do well. Games are what make all the diffference. For me the $500/600 price tag isn't too high, but there has to be a great reason to pay that money. Show me the games, I show you the money.

Hey im 24 also and 600 dollars wont come close to breaking me. Maybe the economy is a bit different in europe where that much is too much for ya though. Im an actor and make great money, but my non actor friends think that much money isnt much to complain over. Then again, if we want a laptop, we buy a laptop, if we need a new tv, we get a new tv. With a couple days worth of work we can get 2-3 PS3s if we wanted to.

But im going off topic, the point you keep missing, is that NOT just a gaming system. Its not. 600$/440 euros wont kill a working professional. Its chump change.

I use my pc for a lot too, but your not looking at the analogy. Computers on par with the PS3 go for a lot more than the PS3s going price. The ati video card alone in the PS3 would go for 500-600 $ easily.

You said that you think people are idiots for saying the system looks good when they dont think it has any good games out at the moment. The analogy i made is concerning a computer with no Operating System in it. The idea is, a system can good look, even if its missing the software that makes it useful. Thus the computer analogy. Get it yet?

Now that we are on the topic of what a PS3 can do.. if you havent noticed there have been to extremes 2 the gaming world. Its also the divide that has cursed gamers out there.. console vs computer. Slowly consoles are turning into stand alone multimedia devices. Its more accessable and tends to be cheaper than computers themselves. Think of a future where everything becomes a multimedia device with interconnectivity through the "wired" which connects the world together through virtual road ways, and everything is instantanious. The PS3 is merely a step in that direction, it cant do more than a PC, but they are going in that direction. Now not everyone has a PC or can afford the price of an equally powerful system.

This is where the PS3 becomes good. Its packaged and optimised for specialist roles (games, movies, general multimedia). Now my psp, can be a word processor, a web browser, i can play certain windows programs on it. If a small hand held device can do all this... then its merely the baby child of where Sony is taking their technology. Look at apples new phone coming out, its basically pushing the limits. PS3 will push the limits. The system can still look good even if you dont want to play games with it.

Its also the cheapest blue-ray player on the market.

The wii runs on 4 year old technology and is extremely limited. Your not getting the point. The product is NOT games. Maybe for the wii due to its limitability, but games are merely software that works on conjuntion with the hardware. The product is what YOU as the user are empowered to do with the technology. If you cant see this, then I dont know what to tell you other than you dont seem to understand the industry very well.

21 and have 2 kids already? well now thats stupid. Sure 600 can buy a lot more, but thats not the argument here. Look, if i say i want a new car but cant afford it. Does that mean its too expensive or that i just cant afford it? is it my fault or their fault? Naturally it would be my fault for not having a high enough income.

Apply the same concept to the PS3. Its not expensive, its that people are either too cheap or cant afford it.

Now if people are mixing up its price and its desirability. They are completely seperate. If you dont see anything for the system that makes you want to buy it, dont say its too exensive, say it lacks the games to buy it. Its not too expensive rather, theres no games making you want to buy it. Its really a simple concept some of these people need to learn.

Why is the PS3 lagging in sales?

The PS3 is too expensive. It is a technological item that is more expensive than both its main two competitors and is therefore falling behind in terms of sales.

Its not $1,200 of hardware - its approx $1,000 of hardware + manufacturing & distribution costs.

JeremyGTS is saying the same thing as me. The problem with the PS3 is that its asking too much and not giving enough. And if it can't offer something unique and good soon I can't see the demand increasing.
