Why does everyone else find shinies in their challenges, but I cant find shinies when I'm looking for one? It doesn't seem fair

Ouch. I was going to sell all of my pokeballs in my monotype moveset (which I need a magmarizer in. Anyone?) but decided against it just in case I found a shiny

Oh, I see... how terrible. =( Hear these stories far too often, missed shinnies because trainers stop buyin' Pokeballs after catchin' their full team.
I was actually 'bout to add somethin' shiny-related to General Rules, so I think I'll make mention of keepin' Pokeballs in your bag at all times as well, to keep another event like this from happenin' to my Challengers. Sorry I didn't have any such rules 'n warnings up already...

B2MM update
I can't remember where I was in the last update, so I'll just guess (can't be bothered trying to find out)
After I finished my level grinding, I battled Elesa's gym and beat it quite easily. I then travelled to Driftveil City to attempt to beat Clay. I failed three times in a row until I finally decided to do more training. I evolved Combusken, Magby and Darumaka into Blaziken, Magmar and Darmanitan, respectively. The battle was easy after that. I used Magmar to set up Sunny Day and once he fainted I switched in Blaziken and destroyed his team from there.
I then went to the PWT to destroy everyone there (which I did) and then to the Plasma Frigate to beat up some Plasma Grunts.
I then tavelled to Mistralton City and spent more than half of my money to buy Sunny Day to teach to Houndoom. I'm now level grinding my Litwick to make it evolve.

Once Lmapent/Litwick evolves, how you gonna get Chandelure? The nearest Dusk Stone is Strange House/ Pokemon League. Unless you want to go Drilbur-huntin'
