The Many Holidays of Every Day

... What, are ya not ****ing with me for once? Or am I just stupid and am missing it... ._.

Any of you who know what an AK is outside of news on terrorism and shooting games know it's actual Russian name, the Avtomat Kalashnikova. On this very day, construction of the Kalash model 47 was finished (taken from the year it was finished, 1947). An age-old assault rifle that's rugged, efficient, and deadly enough to still be used 60 years later AND remain in production certainly says something; the AK 47 is to Russia as the Panzer tank is to Germany. Power and function to match any other rifle, while it's simplicity allows any rookie solider to pick one up and spray 'n pray (the AK was designed specifically for this hip fire strategy, actually) without cannibalizing that power at all. That same simplicity of it's parts and design gives it it's notorious durability and adaptability to perform under any situation. Dragged it through mud and sand? It still works. Dropped it in the water or lugging it through wet terrain like a jungle? Shrugs it off with ease. All this brilliant craftsmanship takes the form of it's simplicity and no expensive parts, which also means it's a very cheap gun for it's effectiveness. As you should be able to see, there's many good reasons terrorists use this as their automatic death dealer of choice.

Hahaha Hip fire... Don't get me started... I remember reading somewhere that at one point there was 1 Kalashnikov rifle for every 10 people on Earth! Don't know how accurate that is... The AK-47 is really a POS but the Saiga rifles are pretty damn accurate.

November 15th

Today, we've got six holidays and a single birthday.

America Recycles Day
George Spelvin Day
I Love to Write Day
National Bundt Day
King's Feast Day
Republic Day (Brazil)
Georgia O'Keefe's Birthday

America Recycles Day is a day for recyclers to rejoice over the good they do for the environment (and also the economy), as well as a day to promote the brilliance of recycling. For example, did ya know that recycling a product back into itself causes less pollution and generally costs less than making said product from it's raw materials? If the world had completely ignored recycling, we probably would be living in a hellish wasteland by now with a lack of trees, destroyed lands from trash overload, and global warming running rampant. Since recycling is so boss, it's gotta be my holiday pick of the day... And as great as it is, I don't bother with it. Yeah, hypocrisy at it's truest. >_>; Unless I turn into a hippy and start protesting about how bad wasting **** really is, or recycling becomes a social norm, I don't think I'll change my ways either TBH.

George Spelvin Day commemorates the supposed day that the pseudonym ("false name") George Spelvin was credited in a play called Karl the Peddler in 1886 instead of a certain actor's real name. Basically, the day celebrates this pseudonym's birth and wide use from then on for crediting actors. Fun fact: the feminine version of the name (Georgina) fell out of use since a porn star used it at one point.

I Love to Write Day can GTFO. The days of pen and paper are long past, and if I had to write half the amount I type, I'd be a sad ****in' panda. ;_; Special GTFO shoutout to catholic schools.

National Bundt Day is the day to make a bundt; and I'm sure most of you have no idea what that is. :p It would be this. I can assure ya I was somewhat confused when I first saw the pan as a youngin'.

Belgium's King's Feast Day celebrates their monarchy... Yeah. I don't think most countries don't celebrate the absolute authority of royalty...

On the contrary to celebrating divine rule, Brazil's Republic Day celebrates the same date in 1889 where a military coup d'état successfully overthrew Emperor Pedro II, and Brazil was immediately declared to now be a republic. Not to many holidays that have to do with the end of a tyrant celebrate a coup.

Georgia O'Keefe was an incredibly important figure to modern art. Back in the roaring 20s, women's rights were still lesser than men, and women weren't allowed to learn any forms of supposedly masculine art in colleges or universities. Without any truly professional training and only the instruction of lesser schools and independent artists, O'Keefe's talent alone for abstract art made her famous in a time where notable female artists were pretty much unheard of. Aside from flowers, her works often tended to be the masculine American southwest as well, certainly making her stand out among fellow artists.

So, who recycles/lives with people who recycle?

November 16th

Today (YESTERDAY), we've got five holidays and a lone birthday.

Fast Food Day
National Educational Support Professionals Day
International Day for Tolerance
Admission Day (Oklahoma)
Day of National Rebirth (Estonia)
W.C. Handy's Birthday

Be happy you didn't get the chance to celebrate Fast Food Day. Especially if you're American. Delicious as it can be, never is it healthy without a nasty price to look at. Like Subway, for example. I'd devour two foot-longs (THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!) and then I'd be good, but that's a $10 meal right there in exchange for it being healthy. Yep, fast food is terrible, aside from being convenient.

National Educational Support Professionals Day celebrates those who have jobs in regards to supporting schools and other educational facilities. The future wouldn't be too bright if learning went completely unguided aside from the teachers themselves, so the workers to be honored certainly do deserve it.

International Day for Tolerance-- waitwhat? We already had World Kindness Day. I've certainly no problem with either day, but can't they be the same thing? =/

Oklahoma's Admission Day confirmed the Sooner State as the 46th of the US back in 1907. I'd say today is a joyous day for Oklahomian's, but no: let me explain. The name Oklahoma comes from the Native American words "okla" and "humma", which translates to "red people". T'was often a phrase to describe the Native Americans as a whole, naturally. Oklahoma was so late to admission into the Us because of the huge Native American population there. When negotiations were held, the Choctaw tribe's Chief Allen Wright suggested the name as he envisioned Oklahoma to be an all-Indian state. Unfortunately, the very opposite is true and we all know how the Native American culture is nigh-dead thanks to the white man, who indeed, now controls Oklahoma in all ways racist and wrong. A happy day for the white man (every ****ing day is =/), but a sad one for those of Native American blood.

Estonia's Day of National Rebirth celebrates the day it re-declared it's sovereignty in 1988. Estonia had to deal with a lot of **** in the past century (ohai WWII and Stalin), so the day it could get back on it's feet and independent all the while, is one to be celebrated.

William Christopher Handy, the renowned "Father of the Blues", is one hell of a recognized musical talent of old. He certainly wasn't the first composer for blues, but he's the one who is most credited for breathing true life, popularity, and consolidation into the genre. The man's sense of rhythm and talent of music, alongside his grand memory, helped him develop a true blues style as he traveled across the country, memorizing to heart local folk music from east to west. Inspiration found, the man and his band made both history and music aplenty. It's certainly a birthday I can recognize.

UNTIMELY MOZILLA CRASH TROLLS ME! Dx An hour of typing, gone... again. ;_; Aaaarrrrgggghhhh...

November 17th

Today, we've got five holidays and one anniversary.

Take a Hike Day
Use Less Stuff
National Unfriend Day
Great American Smokeout
Homemade Bread Day
Suez Canal's Anniversary

Take a Hike Day isn't the day to tell everyone to sod off; it's literal. Today's the day (earlier...) to take a hike in your local wilderness; if ya have any nearby, that is.

Use Less Stuff Day is what it is; use less energy today, replace disposable things with their longer lasting counterparts (metal utensils instead of plastic, rags and towels instead of paper towels, etc.). Some people also extend the day until Thanksgiving, since wasting less is certainly a way of giving thanks to... er, the environment?

National Unfriend Day is my kind of holiday. Today's the day to clean out that robust friend list of a couple hundred on your facebook or whatever the devil you youngin's use these days... Nobody in IRL has a couple hundred ****ing friends, so there's no point in having that many (whom you don't even talk to, probably) on the internets. And if you have no need to participate in this holiday for whatever reason, props for you.

Great American Smokeout is the day to quit smoking en masse. If you need support in quitting (I wouldn't blame you), you'll certainly be able to find someone from this day and onwards. Plenty of sites promoting the day are also promoting legitimate and known-to-work ways of quitting as well. I've known the addictive curses of nicotine, so this is my holiday pick of the day, no doubt.

Homemade Bread Day is a day to knead and bake your own bread. If you've never had fresh, homemade bread, YOU'RE ****IN' MISSING OUT! The fragrance of fresh bread is divine, and the taste is delicious without any need for butter or anythin' of the sort.

The Seuz Canal was made way back in 1859, and took an entire decade to complete, as well as thousands of lives lost in the process. As important of a waterway as it was, hot damn did it cause a lot of crisis and even wars... Then again, that's what happens with anything that valuable.

So, who else had once or currently does enjoy the pleasure of shoving tar into their lungs? >_>;

Yesterday's post coming soon.
