Super Smash Bros. 4

Don't you just love how people keep suggesting Shrek and Powerpuff Girls on Miiverse? Pathetic >.<

I actually hope Jigglypuff doesn't return.
I'll overlook this one time since you support Ghirahim. One time.

Why do you say that? If Sakurai's going to sack any characters, I feel like Ike is one of the most likely ones. I feel that it's weird that we know Marth is in the game but not him. If I remember correctly, Marth has always been a "secret" character, whereas Ike was default in Brawl. I feel like it would be weird to make Marth default alongside Ike, or to make Ike secret and Marth default. It's entirely possible, it's also entirely possible that unlockable characters simply aren't being hidden this time, but it still seems weird to me. Ike is also the most easily replaceable Brawl newcomer aside from maybe Red. It wouldn't make as much sense to do something like replace Wolf with Krystal, as Krystal was a viable candidate when Brawl was released. They wouldn't just replace him with her for no reason, I feel. However, Chrom, Lucina, and the Avatar are new characters that threaten to replace Ike. Olimar was in a similar situation with the Pikmin 3 playable characters, but not as much.

I also feel like Ice Climbers might go. They haven't had any games in...how long? At least Game and Watch has the honor of representing an entire handheld, even if said handheld is mostly irrelevant now. ROB also seems somewhat likely but not as much. I could also see Snake going. And to a small extent Wolf. Besides that, I can't see any of the characters possibly getting removed.

So....

1. Ike
2. Ice Climbers
3. Snake
4. ROB
5. Red
6. Wolf

This is assuming that Sakurai does scrap veterans, which isn't necessarily confirmed, but I thought he mentioned once that he was going to.

Krystal is... Meh. I'd ****in love having Slippy or Peppy in the game, since they look so different and probably play different as well. Don't really see it happening though...

And yeah I agree about the Ike-Marth theory.

I read something about it being VERY unlikely of Snake returning, I think it was the maker of MGS. Yeah Ice Climbers and ROB have a very small chance of returning as well.

I also read something about there being about as much characters as in Brawl, which is sad. I really hoped there would be at least 5 more.

And why do you like Jigglypuff so much? I'd want him back if he got a new move-set, dont see that happening though

Why do you say that?

Fire Emblem is more popular than ever with the success of Awakening; the series is growing, and so too should its roster representation in Smash. Ike was an incredibly popular character in Brawl. Everyone's reaction to losing Roy, despite 'em bein' a clone, was absurd disproportionate.

Ike isn't leaving, nor being replaced.

It ain't unlikely so much as yet to be decided. Kojima is friends with Sakurai, which is why Snake got int' Smash Bros. in the first place. Accordin' to Kojima, they've yet to discuss Snake's return; judging from what he said, there were no plans to have a discussion. But Kojima sorely wants Snake t' return, so yeah. If Sakurai wills it, it'l happen.

Rumor 'til proven otherwise.

Me neither, though I would quite enjoy Slippy, and to a lesser extent Peppy.

I'm a Jiggles fanboy, mostly because of her SSB appearances. Sure, she's not too notable anymore, but she's been there since the N64 version so I feel she deserves to stay. I might think differently if she was introduced in Melee for some reason. She also represents the new fairy type, which is nice. I feel like at least one of her moves will change because of that.

Good.

I don't know about very small for any of the characters I listed. Small, sure, but I wouldn't exactly be surprised to see any of them back. I was somewhat surprised at Toon Link, I'll admit.

Dunno about that rumor, it seems unlikely that the number wouldn't go up at least a few. For that to be true they'd have to scrap five characters, which seems unlikely to me. Even then, I'm sure there's at least two newcomers we don't know about yet, hopefully more.

I suppose that makes sense, he's probably more popular than the other characters on my list save maybe Snake.

What Splash said

and this
Ike
Probably the most popular Fire Emblem character ever has everything from a BFS to Spikey hair, everything you need to be a popular Anime/Video Game character. But enough of the parody, Ike is an awesome character despite his cliché appearance. He was the new addition to the Fire Emblem Smash Family in Brawl and he wasn't even the main character in the most recent Fire Emblem game at the time! Here are the points going for him:

1. Still Fresh. There isn't a Fire Emblem main character quite like Ike. He carries a 2 handed sword unlike the ones before him, Marth and Roy, which makes his playstyle unique and powerful.

2. Still Popular. As I said before Ike is still pretty popular and unlike Roy, Awakening nodded in Ike's direction more than once. His DLC is arguably the hardest of any Fire Emblem level (though I can't say it because I still need to get it) and in another Awakening DLC he was mentioned as one characters favorite character (obviously someone developing the game likes him). But if that isn't enough there is a character in Awakening that is one of Ike's descendants:
Kinda spoiler is not a story spoiler.
Priam

3. Still Relevant. Him getting in Brawl means that he was chosen over Micaiah who was the main character from the most recent game at the time, a female, and a tome user; three points which would have added more diversity to Smash. But instead Ike was chosen to represent the most recent Fire Emblem game and the console Fire Emblem games at the same time while still adding character diversity. As no new console Fire Emblem game has been made since, he still represents the last of the console Fire Emblem games.

Points against him:

1. Kinda Old. Not as old as Roy though.

If you think about it.
No Fire Emblem Character can replace Ike. There are no Fire Emblem characters like him.

Contrary to popular belief, Ike did not replace Roy. Marth did. Ike simply filled the character void with a new moveset.

i told you aaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

If that "clone" made it in, then y'all can guarantee every other clone at least has a fair shot.

Smash 4 isn't set to come out for almost another year; if delays come, definitely a year (or more). If they already spent all'a their newcomers, that'd be bad marketing. There'l be more, assuredly.

Unless there's some really special plotshit in Ike's games about him that I'm unaware of (I doubt there is), I wouldn't say he's very unique. Popular, sure, but he seems like just your average swordsman. He's really strong, I give him that, but that's about it.

Find one Fire Emblem Swordsman like him

*facepalm*

As MR's quote mentioned, Ike's personality and fighting style sets 'em apart from other important FE protagonists, which is exactly what Sakurai looks for in a character. His appearance as well, to an extent.

I don't have any sort of argument to back it up, but I'm just going to throw out the fact that "I like Ike" too. I want him to stay. :/

I guess the whole "wields a 2-handed sword with one hand" is pretty unique, but besides that I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. I don't really know the character all that well, I guess I shouldn't be assuming so much, but at first glace what I mentioned appears to be the only unique thing about him, to me. Feel free to explain why you think otherwise.

I really don't see Snake returning. Toon Link was surprising, definitely, but with the release of A Link between worlds, it kinda made sense at the same time.

I really hope that if the roster doesn't really get bigger, they'll drop at least 5 characters. I want as many new characters as possible :D
I never have a favorite character. Sure I'm better with some than with others, but I often I don't quit the game till I used all characters :3

Also I really hope Jigglepuff gets at least one new move. Same for Toon Link, otherwise I'm really disappointed in Toon Link and wouldn't want him to return...

Hmmm that Ike theory seems legit as well. Oh well I don't really care. I just want many new characters and íf old ones are returning I want them to have as many new moves as possible :3

I don't really know the character all that well

at first glance

There's your problem.

I really don't see Snake returning.

For what reason(s)?

Toon Link was surprising, definitely, but with the release of A Link between worlds, it kinda made sense at the same time.

Ya can't really connect the two since since Toon Link has no relation to the Link in ALBW. Rather, Toon's return made sense because of Wind Waker HD's release. Though I highly doubt that a mere re-release was the deciding factor on his return.

I just don't ok... accept it...

Yeah that re-release and I kinda thought he looked like Toon Link ._.
I know it's not a big factor, but it definitely makes more sense than Iceclimbers or ROB returning.
I also don't know about Game & Watch..
