Come to think about it they reveal a character when a game is about to be released. When LoZWWHD is released and Toon Link has not been revealed as a character, then we probably can assume that Toon Link will not be in the game.

Knowing two new characters were announced, and most veteran Smashers, FE characters will probably show up after a decent amount of others are.
Perhaps they are planning to release characters by their importance. (If that's the case, it makes sense for Mario to be top priority.)
