Dark Samus has Phazon going for her to make her different than Samus, which in my opinion is more than Wolf and Luigi have to differentiate themselves from Fox and Mario, respectively. Being a major villain in three games (or 2.5) is more important than almost every character in the series, more important than possibly everyone aside from Ridley and Mother Brain.

It'd be a cool idea to do like zero suit, press a certain button when starting, to change to Dark Samus. Though that might make Samus too OP, I mean more then she already is.

That doesn't make any sense. Yeah, you can get good as every character in the game. But being "OP" in this kind of game means that you're better than most/all other available characters, to an extent that it is considered unfair.

And on that note, the only broken character is Meta. Snake is nearly there as well, but he can still be counterpicked... and doesn't have a retardedly bullshit gimp game.

Separate character. That, and as proven by quiksilver 'n friends, Zamus is viable competitively... whereas Samus is not (very much).
