Ridley is an important antagonist that appears in almost all of the Metroid series. And so is Andross (except he's from Star Fox). The only thing is, it would be very odd playing as a giant head that looks like an incompleted 3D model the size of most of the stages. Also, what would Andross' attacks be? Only thing I can think of is spitting panels at people. While Ridley, in other hand has so many possible attack patterns. He can claw, punch, bite, breath fire, fly, and even wack with his tail. And scaling down ridley to an appropriate size should be no problem for Nintendo.
And have you seen Bowser in SM 64, SMSN, and SMG? He's at least 25 times bigger than Mario (In SMSN and SMG).
