Pokemon X/Y

If you look at the picture of all the Eeveelutions together, they opposite to the type they're weak aggainst, meaning they'res a higher probability of it being flying... :/
Are you just saying that because you read the first YouTube comment?

Guys, look at the eevee chart on the official website:
Vaporeon is weak to Grass and shown opposite to Leafeon
Glaceon is weak to Fire and shown opposite to Flareon
Espeon is weak to Dark and shown opposite to Umbreon
And then we have Silveon which is shown opposite to Jolteon... so I conclude that it has to be weak to Jolteons type or vice versa. The only type that Electric is weak to is Ground... however since Silveons doesn't seem to look like a Ground type it probably is a Flying type.
Oh my god you idiots.

It's simple. The Kanto Eeveelutions are on the top, the Johto ones are in the middle, and the Sinnoh ones are near the bottom.

Besides, even if we were to use that stupid logic, maybe the new type (if there is one) is weak to/powerful against Electric.

I love how Mankey didn't give the image, but Nick pulls it outta his ass instead.

I also agree that this whole logic bullshit is moreso coincidental than a hint at Sylveon's typing prior t' said information bein' released. Furthermore, the Pokes are ordered left to right by dex number, there's no other reason for it bein' like that... not that Sylveon bein' Flyin' type is utterly outta the question, but I feel that's notably less likely than it bein' either Normal or a new type. The image Nick provided does nothin' to prove or disprove anythin' in particular.

EDIT: Trago actually has a point. No Eeveelution has resisted Jolteon's STAB 'till Leafeon's introduction, but there's not yet been a Ground type. If Sylveon is indeed a new type, it wouldn't be a terrible idea for Jolteon t' be weak to it for whatever reason.

Not that said point has any more merit than the contrary argument of "sylveon is flyin tyep cuz of dis image lol".

I'm pretty sure it's a new type at this point. If it was just a normal type it wouldn't be so mysterious, Game Freak would just come out with it.
I'm betting on powerful against Electric. Every other Eeveelution has a weakness except Jolteon.
Umbreon doesn't either.

Then what type do you assume Sylveon is?
A new type. Not sure what, though I mentioned the genetic engineering possiblity.

It definitely looks like it could be one of the current types.
Not when you take into account the secrecy and the fact that it's the only one this gen. It looks like it could be Flying, but flying isn't notable enough of a type to merit only one Eeveelution. The only current types that could get away with that are Normal and Dragon. Normal because it's Eevee's type, and Dragon because not only is Dragon hyped up as the most powerful type, but Dragon is the last of the "special types" not covered by the other Eeveelutions. Neither of them are an excuse for the obviously deliberate mystery surrounding the typing (and the fact that it doesn't look like a dragon).

Dark types are weak to Fighting and Bug attacks. I would know, I only use them all the time.

I'm eager too. I'm betting against light, but I lack any amazing reasoning. I'll give you it anyway.

  • Too obvious
  • Kinda random at this point. I feel like there has to be a reason for a new type appearing instead of it just popping out of the blue. GSC had an excuse, being the second games in the series. This is part of why I think it may be related to genetic engineering, as that would be related to story elements.

Well, that too, I guess. Light typing could be considered too similar to other types, like Electric and Psychic.

The thing I like about my genetic engineering theory is, not only does it tie in the the likely themes of X and Y, but the Pokemon with the type don't have to look super different then the Pokemon we have already. One could argue that Light typing would require too many previous Pokemon to adopt said type, such as Lanturn, Ampharos, Volbeat, etc. A type created via genetic engineering would only apply to maybe Mewtwo and Genesect. Deoxys isn't genetically engineered by humans, it's just mutated.
