What you really want to remember is the ones that give you 31 IVs in a stat, which are:

HP: Loves to eat
ATK: Likes to thrash about
DEF: Capable of taking hits
SPA: Mischievous
SDF: Somewhat vain
SPD: Alert to sounds

Hi there, I've just bought the game diamond version, could anybody recommend any good Pokemon that I should catch and train up? My starter pokemon is in its second evolution stage(he fire one) and I have some bird in its second form, staravia or something.
Could anybody recommend any?

most of the pokemon you can find in the game, if you train them up, will be good for getting through the game. my only tip is to go for a wide variety of pokemon types. definatly get a pokemon like buizel who can use nearly all the hm's

Buizel is a fair choice to use. If you absolutely do not care about how annoying Bidoof/Bibarel are, they can come in handy. The general game favorite is Shinx/Luxray. Honchkrow [Murkrow evolution] is nice to use as well. Definitely Bronzong for defenses so you can heal during battles while it takes hits. I suggest to avoid getting a Cranidos. It may look kinda cool [somewhat] but is too slow and frail and would end up as a sacrifice in the end.

In conclusion:
Good Options:
Shinx >> Luxray
Murkrow >> Honchkrow
Bidoof >> Bibarel
Buizel >> Floatzel
Bronzor >> Bronzong

Hell if you can, Aipom/Munchlax are good too [via Honey Trees] but yeah.

Bad:
Cranidos/Rampardos

hmm if you can posibly get misdrevous from a trade on pearl, i suggest that one too, shes good too.

with toxic, confuse ray, shadow ball and thunderbolt i think lol.

I'd say get a yeah luxray, then use staraptor, which helped me alot on the first e4 gym, just don't use it on drapion, honchkrow is pretty good, I used machamp as my HM slave, as floatzel I highly recommend, marriland used bibarel as an HM slave.

i believe sneasel can learn pursuit thru lvling

as for IP, breed it with medicham, hitmonlee???

no, you must breed a buneary with hitmonlee and breed the buneary with sneasel
