Official Baseball Talk

First off I am happy to say Barry Bonds has been indicted on chargers of perjury and obstruction of justice. Never liked Barry Bonds, and I hope he gets what is coming to him. We know he used the "clear" and it's b.s. that Bonds thinks it was flaxseed oil. Not likely. It looks like Barry's career is for the most part over. No clear-minded owner/gm would sign Bonds, and if he is convicted, there is no way he should even be considered for the Hall of Fame, especially when Pete Rose hasn't been inducted and he was more than qualified as a player, just issues with betting on his sport has kept him out.

On a slightly lower note, Alex Rodriguez is close to or has come to an agreement with the Yankees, worth 275 million over 10 years, and what makes this deal worth noting is that A-rod dropped "super agent" Scott Boras and did the deal himself with the Yankees. I guess there is hope for the Steinbrenner sons.

Agreed with the first paragraph, and I'm disappointed along with you for the second. (Being a Red Sox fan.) And the Mets....

Hope that A-rod gets caught gambling!!

A-rod is smarter than that, his one slip up showing up in the tabloids with a woman that wasn't his wife/gf and he more than learned from that. I don't think he is the Yankee's savior so I wouldn't be too worried, they still don't have the pitching they used to have and their lineup under-performs year in and year out with the exception of A-rod. Until the Yankees bolster their staff I don't think what they have is going to put them above the Red Sox.

i somewhat agree. I hope we keep Posada and Rivera... I dont know what they are doing. Thinking about it? Waiting it out? Counting money? They need to wake up. There idiots. Then if Posada and Rivera go elsewhere they will be shocked and surprised.... Heres the message to them, Idiots, give an offer before its too late. Stop screwing up this team, if you cant do it right, sell it. Anyone can do a better job at this point..
I couldn't agree more. Though I'm a Redsox fan, I think they really need Posada and Rivera.

*Sigh*

As a (die hard) Mets fan, I'm glad Glavine is gone, I didn't think his time with the Mets was all that great, though he did eat a lot of innings. The smoke has finally started to clear after the last game of the regular season & what better way to see the light than to see Mota traded?? Apparently, the juice was the only reason he was good when the Mets got him in '06. The 1st step to bolstering the bullpen is knowing who to get rid of. Now, there's talk about Johan Santana going here, or there, or wherever. I don't see him as a Met, but there's talk that the A's will be rebuilding this offseason, which means Joe Blanton or Dan Haren could be in Queens if the Mets can make a trade. The A's seem to have a liking for Lastings Milledge, but I'm not sure if trading him is gonna help or hurt the Mets. I mean, it wouldn't be the end of the world if he went, but I guess what I'm really concerned with is how Carlos Gomez develops, because he was really rushed into the majors & that could screw with his development. Guess we'll wait & see, I just hope Omar Minaya knows what he's doing, because Scott Kazmir, Brian Bannister & Matt Lindstrom still haunt me in my sleep...

All in all, the winter meetings are going to be interesting this year!!!

so Hank is doing a good job. Kept A-rod, Posada, and Rivera. Santana can be on the way. Hate to see Melky go though in the trade if it happens. I will miss him. But if we get to keep Hughes it wont be as bad. So it would be Kennedy, Melky and a propsect for Santana possibly.

I don't think it's bad, I just think the Yankees (or any other team) that gives him or any player that kind of money is stupid. There is no reason for a professional athlete to be paid that kind of money. Especially when people who help the world function get paid nearly nothing.

Wow, the Rays & Twins are close to an agreement on a Delmon Young for Matt Garza deal. Minnesota is busy as hell this offseason!!!

EDIT: It's official

Rays get:
-Jason Bartlett
-Eduardo Morlan
-Matt Garza

Twins get:
-Delmon Young
-Brendan Harris
-Jason Pridie

Just saw that on Jim Rome is Burning, that's a god deal for the Twins. I'm going to stand by my original thoughts that the Rays are a farm team for all the other big league teams.

Damn, I personally think he's clean...this sucks for him =P

And Angels got...well, I forget his name, but I read up on him and he's freakin' amazing! Yay us! Gary Matthews Jr and Garret Anderson will likely be switching off in Right Field due to their ages and high injury counts, but the former will be secondary to Anderson and will remain designated hitter until then. That's a pretty sweet outfield line-up if you ask me ;D

Yea, I think he was clean until about 5 years ago, but yea if Rose isn't in the Hall of Fame, Bonds sure as heck shouldn't be.

Well if we're going by that logic, the Hall of Fame prolly won't see very many more people over the next jillion years ;D
