In the meantime, try Xenogears. It's more traditional than Xenoblade's mmo inspired gameplay. Plus, it's better in its own ways.
 
The game emphasises aggro, dps, positioning, the sorta thing unexpected from jrpg's. Most importantly, they're done well. You get loads of exploration, a rarity nowadays. Removes potions too, so no more spamming health. But unlike mmo's, it maintains plenty of it's jrpg roots. Among them the subtitular Monado, which is just as potent as the story makes it out to be while used as an in-game weapon. A great example of immersive gameplay.

Sounds like I'll enjoy the combat system, as Resonance of Fate could be described as such... though not in comparison to a MMO.
