It's not just that Falcon has the same moves/characteristics that he does in Melee, it's that technical things are different. Short Hopping is a lot easier on P:M with him, which makes me get into the habit of short hopping there and not being able to as well in Melee. I love playing as Falcon in every game, it's just that it would end up hurting me. I play Melee because it is what is competitive here. If there were options on either, I would be dropping Melee no problem. But I succumb to the masses.
