my thougts :

I think that nintendo doesn't know to handle the edge they now have over the others.

I think that nintendo doesn't know how to code a good network like Microsoft, or sony, also it seems that they sit and doesn't do a thing.

they lost the last race with their idiotic Idea to use small Cd, and to not implement network,
they are going to loose again if they won't wake up fast,

they need to build a network so players can play against each other in the net.

thier wiiconnect software, and the software of the Wii in general is coded VERY BAD,
you can see how slow it, you can see how it is barley flaxiable.

all in the name , to make it easy for kids.

The mii channel, if you ask me, is something totally stuiped , the Key note of Mr myamoto look not connected to what is going on today.

while PS showed (bombed.. actually ) with new techonlogy and advance abilities, , MR myamoto basiclly didn't say a thing.

to show that there is new Mii channel on devlopment...
are you serious?! start to make games online, start to make them easy to connect like xbox,.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Wii, as a gamer, I think this is the best system today that offer something new, and I like it.

I hate to see it fail because of slowleness of the devloperes in nintendo, and thier inabilities to build something as xbox live.

you can not miss it this time nintendo.

i have absolutely no idea as to what half of that meant.

Nintendo are bringing out online capable games. There's some thing called multitasking when you do more than one thing at once.

ps3 is crap.

The small cds on the gamecube probaly saved them a ton on piracy.

The whole reason behind the wii is to have fun and there is plenty of that without going online.

Wii online is not out officialy yet. Give it time. This is the equivalent to saying that mp3 will be boring, No one knows.

these xbox versus wii versus ps3 threads are starting to get old...

I watched the keynote and have started a thread about it elsewhere. Whilst I do agree with some of the above points regarding them handling the competitive edge they have and that Miyamoto didn't actually say anything new but Nintendo obviously have factored a lot of development into the Wii online side - ableit slowly at the moment but it is there - so to say it is coded badly, how can you know what the exact functionality it's carrying at this point - after all Windows takes a while to boot up and look at the features it's got that you'll never even know about let alone use!!! It's a convenient analogy, sure but I had to come up with something. :cornut:

As for the Mii channel being stupid - then it's not imperative to use it, it just adds a little further interactivity onto the Wii. Be it good or bad either way it's better there than not imho. Each to his own.

I certainly agree with you regards the online functionality - Xbox and Sony are streaking ahead with envious aplomb from what I have seen and will 'kick ass' if the big N don't pull out at least one stop - but look at it from a marketing side at the minute, Wii is selling like hotcakes and this without online play!! Maybe they aren't feeling under pressure to roll it out in any hurry?!? Only they can know - they did make a lot of mistakes with the GC [as Miyamoto practically admitted in the speech] and we can only hope that Wii isn't lined up for such a fate....:hand:

nintendo should not rest on this sucess, the only reason that they succeded is because people want to see the magic of the remote..
this excitement will go down eventually probebly after they will sell 10M or more.

but it will go down,
as a company that want to lead u need to think 10 steps a head, not one a head, and (At least now) it seems nintendo doesn't think even one a head.

people are all having the EXACT same attitude towards the Wii that they had towards the DS, and look how well that did. They were saying "oh yea, two screens? Gimmick!!! A touch screen and stylus? Gimmick!!! Nintendo has lost their touch and they just want to throw a bunch of gimmicks out there to dazzle the public, but like all gimmicks it will fall through in a matter of months and Nintendo will be left out in the cold." And look how wrong everyone was, it came out, they saw that it was actually quite good and it continues to seriously dominate the handheld market to this day. I suspect the Wii will do the same. They may not overtake the xbox per se, but they will definitely maintain their own momentum.

I think the compattion in the hendhald is much more easy to nintendo.
they were first,
they domintate that market exectly like sony ps2 ,

look at the PSP, it is behind the ds, that is true, but from what I hear it starting to catchup.
and one more thing
small nice ideas are good for hand held which you can carry and go , and you don't mind much about GFX or Wirless,
when you sit in the living room you want it all.

and right now Wii doesn't deliver.

i agree that nintendo needs to start actually doing something. they've made all these sales and have now crapped on their loyal customers. but to say that the wii online will not be as good as xbox live, when it hasn't even come out yet, is just retarded. personally, i think it will be great. Its been out in japan for months. why would they delay it so long if they weren't making it better?
