Wii in Australia thread

I haven't played any of them.

And I know! The Chaser!! But I still gotta watch the repeat on Friday night. So that's something....

Hey guys I'm back, I just watched the Avatar season 3, OMG! Does anyone watch that show? It was soooo freaking awesome. I'm not sure which one to get, either SMG or MOH:H2, My bro's getting the zapper, and I'll really want one too. How much do they cost on their own and also, when MOH:H2 coming out?

I'm going to get both of those. Super Mario Galaxy is November 29, 2007 and Medal of Honour is November 22, 2007. Anyone living in Melbourne might be interested in going to this:

IGN said:
Australia, November 14, 2007 - This weekend Melbourne will be the gaming hub of Australia as punters descend on the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre for the eGames and Entertainment Expo. Running from Friday November 16 through to Sunday November 18, the event promises to be bigger than ever this year, with the likes of Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, Auran Games, EA, Ubisoft, Madman Entertainment, Atari and Activision all attending.

What does that mean? It means there'll be plenty of pre-release code to play - one of the most important litmus tests of any gaming expo. Some of the titles that have been announced? Let's see. How does Super Mario Galaxy, Mass Effect, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Haze, Dark Sector, Unreal Tournament 3, Need for Speed: ProStreet, Link's Crossbow Training, Singstar (PS3), Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Time Crisis 4, Sight Training, WipEout HD and WipEout Pulse sound? We thought so.

There'll also be plenty of recently released titles to get your mitts on too, including Crysis, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Fury, FIFA 08, Skate, Clubhouse Games, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, Guitar Hero III, Tabula Rasa, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Pokemon Battle Revolution, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice, Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Warhawk, Eye of Judgment, Heavenly Sword, Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 and WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008.

Just one of a 'galaxy' of games you'll be able to play.
The expo isn't just about playing, however. There'll be keynotes from industry leaders, industry panels and live on-stage demonstrations of new and (according to the press materials) "never before seen" games. The expo will also be worth attending for those interested in working in game development. QANTM College, Swinburne University, Monash University, Ballarat University, Deakin University, Box Hill Tafe and the Academy of Interactive Entertainment will all be at the expo with advice and info on getting into the industry. For those who are really serious, a series of seminars will be held on Friday for school groups interested in learning about getting into the industry and sessions for students will also be held over the weekend.

There'll also be a focus on competitive play, with the 'eGames eSports Zone' to once again be hosted by Australia's best Counter-Strike team 'Team Immunity', and "created with a stadium style structure and atmosphere". Games featured in the Zone include Counter-Strike 1.6 (naturally), Counter-Strike: Source, Fury, Unreal Tournament 3 and more. Gamers will be able to go head to head with the team in a series of comps over the three days.

And what would a gaming expo be without cosplay? The Animavericks stand will be holding a cosplay competition, as well as a Haruhi Dance competition (that would be the dance routine from the end of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya).

Last year's eGames was a big success.
Fans of gaming and anime music won't be disappointed either, with a special performance on the opening day by members of the Eminence Symphony Orchestra alongside famous composer Hitoshi Sakimoto. For those that don't know Mr Sakimoto, he was responsible for the scores for Final Fantasy XII, Romeo X Juliet and ASH, among many others. Details of the pieces to be performed haven't been released but we can confirm that the main theme from SEGA's recently announced Gallian Chronicles will be performed. Hitoshi Sakimoto and Eminence founder and violin virtuoso Hiroaki Yura will conduct a Q&A session after the performance, and fans will also be able to get items signed.

The expo will also play host to a number of game competitions and a couple of monster door prizes - a Yamaha home theatre system valued at $3999 and a Scorptec Venom PC valued at $2500.

Opening hours are 12pm to 6pm on the Friday, 10am to 6pm on the Saturday and 10am to 5pm on the Sunday. Tickets are $16 for adults, $13 for concession/students and $38 for a family ticket (up to two adults and two children). Oh, and you can pick up a two day pass for $22. We should also mention - children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult, and children under 6 get in free. Visit the official site for more info.

You get the Wii zaper with that zelda crossbow game for $50. I would get galazy before MOH and im a huge MOH fan.

Yes - I have watched Avatar! I loved it! But I don't have the channel that it's on anymore. Instead, I just try and track it's progress on Wiki.

And curses! I live in the worst possible place! Nothing cool ever happens... Well, correction - nothing cool gaming wise every happens. And Call of Duty 4? I haven't even finished 3 yet! It's not that I don't like it - oh no, I'm just more into Mortal Kombat & Perfect Dark.

The Northern Rivers area of NSW. That covers basically Tweed Heads, Byron Bay, Lismore, Ballina and I think it would go down to about Grafton... Well, actually according to Wiki it does... I always just considered the area to be Tweed down to Lismore. But yeah, I never hear of any cool gaming events going on ANYWHERE in the area. If it did, I might consider going - like, most places are like 1 hr away.

I think Tweed would be the place most likely to have stuff - but even then, nothing really. I've heard of a few things - but further up, more Sunshine Coast, or Surfers Paradise.

Lismore is a hole. But I'm probably going to Uni there, so I better get used too it. But yeah, they don't get any events going on! I guess, they are all just small country towns. Except Lismore - which is a hole. Oh, and Byron gets the Blues & Roots festival, I suppose. And Splendor in the Grass... Although, I think they are both moving next year... Hmm...

But anyway - I've been to the EB Games in all these places (except Byron because it doesn't have one.) and everytime I go in there, the people working all just stare at me! Is it that weird for a female to be in EB Games?? Oh, and on a slightly unrelated note - there is of course no JB anywhere around. Oh, and the EB at South Tweed is just scary. They have completely covered all the windows with EB wallpaper, and they have it hanging over the door... It just looks so creepy, and I don't wanna go in.

They probably haven't seen a girl before ;). More girls are getting into gaming though I think, that "only boys are gamers" stereotype is declining.

Yeah the one I go to has all that wallpaper. It's generally unpleasant as it's always really crowded during those sales.

i have seen one of those EB's covered in all the EB posters, they aren't scary. That is pretty rude for them to just stare at you because you are a girl. that would suck not having a JB near you because they have cheap as games all the time. and they have guitar hero to play in the shop.and the one near me is giving away free cd's at the door (i think its some aussie unknown bands or something on th CD).

They are scary when you know once you go in everyone's going to look at you, and in some cases follow you around, as if you are about to steal something. Or maybe they just think I'm lost or something. I don't like to enter something if I can't see what I'm going into, and I won't be able to make a quick escape... Not that the quick escape is for stealing things. No, it's just when the staring becomes too much.

Hmm... I guess it's better then the Just Jeans at South Tweed - there used to be a Lady in their that followed you around and said 'Oh that would look great on you!' for every single thing you touched. Like, I know they have to ask 'Can I help you' and stuff, but this person didn't leave you alone! Actually, once I had a person follow me around going 'So, are you going out tonight? Going to watch a movie today? What movie? How's the weather? It's crowded today isn't it?'

But yeah, JB! I can't quite remember where the closest one is.... But its probably a few hours away. Do, I have NEVER even visited a JB before. I'm hoping one day they will open a store a little closer to me....

Are there many weird people like that over in NSW? On a side not, where's Deity? He hasn't posted in a while.

I took the plunge and bought a 360 today, so if any of you have one and I haven't already added you (from msn contacts) then let me know your Gamertag! Mine is Duckman168.
