SOAD would be the one that got me into metal... Sort of. But as far as local bands, The Flaming Tsunamis and Abeyant would be good. I am into so many genres of metal, i have a Fav for each one. I would say Dimmu Borgir for Black/Death metal though, one of my all times favorites.
