God Complex
No discussions go anywhere, if anything it's actually making people more aware of how irritating text talk is. I don't think this deserves a lock.

owlsgo said:good point, thankyou. editing commences now.
it infuriates me a little, though, people arguing that it isn't hard to read things typed in such a hideous way. yes it f**king is. it's like learning another language... that only lazy people use.

Wii-Fi said:if (your)ur mad that people don't use correct grammer, then i believe YOU have a problem. (fragment)Come on who cares, if you can't read it then just ignore it. this is stupid. (fragment) Besides (broken rule) sometimes writers break rules to showcase thier style. So (broken rule) if you don't like it maybe you are just ignorent.
PS I hope these corrections show how ridiculous this is. That style is call satire.
Frogger said:I'm not intelligent, I just know how to use grammar to get my point across correctly. I have said nothing that could make anyone less of a person.
I just think that, when people are writing out a CV, they use correct grammar, which is believed to impress, of course it works, you just earn my respect if you type in correct grammar. It shows that you have the time and actually care about a thread, it's not like you should value every little bit of time you have, but adding in a few more letters will make everything all the better.
Is it just a lie for someone to use correct grammar on their CV when they don't use it online? I see that there is no difference between them, obviously these people do, a CV is potentially used to get you money. I thought people had some good will to at least type orderly when not getting something in return.
I just measure respect to the language, and the readers by using correct grammar, it's just polite. Alright, you can let your slang and speech slip into your posts, I really don't mind that, I'm not typing in an essay manner, I just like to believe that it is conversational. Imagining that people actually talk like that is quite pathetic and not human.
I like you for challenging my opinion, that's what I believe a forum is about, not asking a quick question and getting the hell out.
Wii > You said:But that's not a "style." It's laughed at.
Frogger said:See with you, you don't bother me. I've noticed that you don't use capital letters when needed or such but you obey the laws of our language, and your post is readable. People should at least make everything like that.
I've been on international forums that is full of people who don't have english as their first language, and you get banned for the use of text talk because some people can't understand it. If we can't understand it, think about them. It's not helpful for anyone.
owlsgo said:although, i beg to differ, frogger, you are intelligent as far as i can see.
she .Wii > You said:Exactly. Owlsgo types in a manner that we can all read. He is not any lower than me because I use capitols. He at least writes his posts so that all may understand. Thanks, Owlsgo!
Also, thanks for not closing this thread. It is a good issue to discuss.
Honestly, I've known many people who had typos in their papers due to text talk; they didn't even realize it. It's like using the "N" word all day but not around your non-white friends. One day it's going to slip out if you continue to use it. Look at what happened with Dog the Bounty Hunter. The same goes with proper posting. If you don't care about it, one day your not caring is going to become a norm that plagues you.
Frogger said:Good grammar doesn't determine intellect, my sister's basically the same as me but she's dyslexic and can't spell at all.
Frogger said:My english teacher believes it's a style, it's just not correct. Apparently, it appeals to different audiences.
And if you're going to praise me it wouldn't kill you to do it in one post.
