Norway was left outta the Pokemon loop? ... Seriously?

In any case, DS games aren't region locked and GBA games most certainly ain't as well. See if you can't get your hands on an English copy in from the UK or any other nearby country.

Not sure what you mean by "left out of the pokemon loop", but there are pokemon cards and new games at every store that sell games, just not the old ones. The oldest game I could find on the internet (sold by someone from Norway) was Diamond and Pearl! I will try my best though.

Also I've started a new "Single Challenge" run. I'm doing it with Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard on Pokemon Leaf Green. My character is still a female named Elesa. Should I keep track of how many times my pokemon faints?

Single Challenge run update:
- I beasted through route 1, 2 and Viridian Forest with my Charmander and Ember, which I called "KIRA", after the Death Note "character". The original "character" name Kira, was supposed to sound like Killer, which is why I chose that name.
- When I came out, Kira was lvl 13, and had just learned Metal Claw.
- I had big problems fighting Brock, because his Onix knows Rock Tomb, and owns me with it.
- After beating Brock's Geodude until Kira was lvl 17, and had evolved into a Charmeleon, I finally managed to beat him.
- I beasted my way through Mt. Moon with Kira and Metal Claw, and was lvl 24 when I came out.
- I challenged Misty, but lost.
- I took on my rival for the second time, and defeated him without problems.
- After beating all the trainers on the path to Bill's house, Kira was at lvl 30.
- Now, my battle against Misty was surprisingly easy, and I beat her at my first try.
- I'm currently about halfway through S.S. Anne.

Here is an update on Kira:
Level 33
Mild nature (-denfense, + special attack)
Brick Break
Dig
Mega Kick
Ember

And Splash_King, please hurry up and accept my challenge :p

If I could accept Challenges in my sleep, I sure as **** would. >_>

Challenge aceptado.

Should I keep track of how many times my pokemon faints?

Nope, not 'less ya want to. Some Challengers will track their number of white-outs (entire team fainted) in their Challenges, but that's only a requirement for No Item Challenges.

Not sure what you mean by "left out of the pokemon loop"

Some countries didn't at all get a regional release for the games until rather late in the series' life and missed a few Generations as such; some countries also received said regional release late. Really late, as in a few years late. A handful of countries in the East actually banned Pokemon, even.

I hope the 3DS itself isn't region locked (dor wi-fi stuff)... That would be a lot of wasted money for me

Do you know any good unevolved Pokemon before the third gym in Sapphire? I don't want to train so much for it and this guy is really hard with my team (I hate Magnemites over anything else in gen 3  )

I haven't been posting in a while because I'm busy packing and saying good bye to everyone here or the ones leaving and I probably won't be on while most of the guys here are on when I'm back in Europe:( (Although many Europeans joined since I got here)

Well, I live in Norway, so we have got mostly 5th generation only. If I'm lucky, I might find Soul Silver or Heart Gold some day, and Emerald is almost impossible.
I hope you find those, because they are amazing games :)

The 3DS is indeed region-locked...

'Sides from any locally found Ground-types, nope.

... I merely assumed there was one since ya ain't usually left high 'n dry of type advantages against gym leader.

No worries bro. Oh, and there ain't no need for those polite niceties like givin' unwarranted apologies (not when dealin' with me anyways, formalities ain't really my thing lol). After all, we're a friendly bunch here on Wiichat... 'cept Neosquid, **** that guy. Go insult 'em and say I sent ya plz. >_>

As for somethin' topically relevant, I might post an update for my B2-M Challenge later. Possibly. Maybe. dontcountonitimlazyderp

Haha, alright.

Single Challenge run update:
- I battled every trainer on S.S. Anne, including Gary, and won.
- I caught a Bellsprout (which I called "SPLASHKING"), and gave it Cut, which I got on S.S. Anne.
- I got into the 3rd gym, and Kira, my Charmeleon, turned into a Charizard, right before the final fight. In the electric-type gym. That was not really a problem though, as I took down Lt. Surge with 3 OHKOs.
- I won against all of the trainers on Route 11.
- I went around to different places and caught a total of 6 pokemon, so that I could get Flash from the guy on Route 2 (I believe). i released all pokemon (except for Kira and SplashKing).
- I went through Route 9 and 10 and entered Rock Tunnel.
- I gave SplashKing Flash, and got through the cave.
- I entered Lavender Town (ooooh, spooky).
- I got through Lavender Tower (where I defeated my rival, DANTE), but got stopped by the ghost.
- I made my way through to Celadon City, where I got an Eevee, which I called DERPSLAVEE. I bought a Water Stone, and gave it to DerpSlavee, because I'm going to turn him into my Surf/Strength/Waterfall/Dive slave.
- I bossed the grass gym and Erika.
- I received Fly in Route 16, and gave it to Kira.

Kira update:
Level 49
Mild nature (-denfense, + special attack)
Flamethrower
Fly
Brick Break
Rock Slide

Rather than derp around with a Challenge update, I did somethin' better with my time.

Harmonia Challenge

This ruleset is inspired by ol' N Harmonia's release-happy habit as seen in Black and White. Figured basing a Challenge on this would make for a fun ruleset; a challenging one t' boot.

1. After obtaining each badge, you MUST catch an entirely new team of four or more Pokemon. If that many new species can't be caught, catch as many as possible. You must release/permanently box your current team as soon as you catch the first Pokemon for your new team.

2. The first Pokemon encountered when it's time to make a new team MUST be caught and used.

3. If you catch a full team of six, you may NOT catch any more Pokemon until you obtain the next badge.

4. After beating a gym leader, you may NOT catch Pokemon in ANY location you have traveled through prior to arriving at that gym's city for the first time.

5. If you've already caught a Pokemon or any of its (pre)evolve form(s), you may NOT catch it.

6. If you're playing a version which lets you battle Gym Leaders out of order, do NOT defeat them in the wrong order.

7. You may NOT obtain and hatch eggs. You may NOT conduct any trades, in-game or without another game.

8. Pokemon required to be boxed/released may NOT be kept and used as an HM slave. N does not approve of Pokemon slavery.

9. You may NOT use Revives in the middle of a battle. N would never repeatedly send his Pokemon to be knocked out.

10. The Harmonia Challenge may not be combined with the following for a Combined Challenge: Monotype, Scramble, or Single.

The reasoning behind Rule 10 is that, in a Monotype/Harmonia Challenge, the amount of Pokemon you can catch suddenly dwindles. The point of the Harmonia Challenge is to make ya catch and release a lot of Pokemon, the opposite of a Nuzlocke really. Limiting how many Pokes you can catch defeats the purpose of the Challenge. As for Scramble and Single, they simply don't work with the Harmonia Challenge for obvious reasons.

This is the very first rough draft, so the ruleset ain't properly structured, balanced, or in any way finalized... hence why I'm postin' it. I want t' hear any and all suggestions y'all might have for the rules: ones t' add, ones t' remove, ones t' change, anything at all. Furthermore, I'd also like for some Challengers to test this rough draft 'fore I implement it officially. I'll be usin' this prototype ruleset myself as I play through BW1 (as the neutral test) and RBY (to see if it'l work well in retro games). Y'all can help test this ruleset with any version too, but I'd sorely appreciate it if at least one person each played a Generation 2 (GSC or HGSS are fine) and Generation 3 game.

Lastly, anyone who completes the Harmonia Challenge in the prototype stage will receive a place in the Hall of Fame as is standard. Anyone who posts your typical update after at least every other badge, along with feedback in regards to the ruleset, will also be labeled somethin' along the lines of "tester" or some **** like that in their HoF entry (someone suggest somethin' cooler and more appreciative-sounding than "tester" plz). More importantly, you'll also get one of my countless shiny Pokemon as thanks for the helpful bit of extra work ya put in.

Know that I definitely win't moan over you not givin' any useful feedback on the first update or two since, especially in the first one, it's a tad early t' comment anything major... but if all someone posts as feedback is "yep, this is fun, ruleset is great mkay" for the entire Challenge, I ain't gonna be too eager to give ya a shiny. Just a fair warning to anyone who'll be doin' the Challenge prototype and wants that there reward, I'd rather make ya wary now than severely disappoint ya later. 'Cause then I'd feel like a douche.

- I caught a Bellsprout (which I called "SPLASHKING"), and gave it Cut

... Are you implyin' I'm a stupid emo? ;______;

EDIT: Also edited a shitton of grammar/spelling/bbcode/whatever for the thread's ruleset post, and threw in spoilers as a bonus. A rare moment of common sense dictated to me that not everyone loves scrolling through walls of text like I do.

Well, I felt like had to name something after you, and the first pokemon that popped up was a Bellsprout :p Would you rather have wanted it to be a Meowth?

The Harmonia Challenge sounds awesome! I'm going to try either that one, or a Scramble/Moveset/Monotype challenge on Black, after I've finished my current challenge. And no, it's not just because I could get a shiny. When I read through the rules, i though "wow, awesome, I've got to try this". The shiny will be icing on the cake (if I get it). How many shinies have you got?

Stupid Meowth, tryin' to bite a Magikarp... damn fool.

105+ unique shinnies (this list is from a few years back, lost the up to date one in a hard drive crash... so there's 10 or 20 more shinnies unlisted, I'll fix that eventually). The number is notably less when countin' an evolution family only once, of course...

I should mention legendaries are off limits as a reward for givin' the ruleset a test run. Don't trade shiny legendaries for anythin' but other shinnies of the same rarity.

An actual update to my Challenge:

It will not be finished, I don't believe. I gave my brother my DS until he either A) gives it back, or B) gets a Game Boy Wumbo
