System Format - Will I lose all my channels?

Does anyone know if I do a system format, will I lose the Opera Web Browser and have to pay for it now? Can I back it up?

Doesn't a system format completely refresh your Wii, as though you had just bought it from the shop new, therefore you couldn't redownload them for free?

But it registers your Wii's friend code or something when you buy something, so you can download it again on the same console and it knows you already paid for it.

Yes thats right, but if you choose to reformat by throwing your Wii off a building, and then buy a brand new Wii, kiss everything goodbye! ^_-
