Super Smash Bros. Alternate Plot: The Rise of Nefirus

~Destiny Islands~

"SO YOU HAVE CHOSEN?" Nefirus grabbed Master Hand and began absorbing his power. Within seconds, nothing was left of the god but dust. Nefirus grabbed Kairi and sent her through a Subspace portal leading to the Gummi Ship.
"AH!!!! THIS IS TRUE POWER!" yelled Nefirus, pleased.
Or was it? I haven't ascended to the next level of power like I had predicted. True, I did gain a great deal of energy, but this is far less than Crazy Hand’s power level...

With a jolt of rage Nefirus realized that Master Hand must have transferred his power to something else. "ARRRRGGGGHHH!!!"

It's no use looking for it now; Master Hand could have sent his energy anywhere. But no matter, I'm sure the heroes will know where it is. Once they find it, I'll take it from them! Nefirus returned to the Smash Dome through yet another Subspace portal.

CHAPTER FIVE: BETRAYAL-- Sneak Preview!

With Master Hand gone, the devastated heroes must continue on to theie next objective-- the Triforce! But as they make their move, Nefirus does as well, through his double-agent the Black Knight! Will the heroes be able to handle the power of their former ally, or will their salvation come from an unexpected source-- himself? Meanwhile, Tabuu begins making his own plans to thwart Nefirus! Stay tuned!

Aghast, Link grabbed the coconuts and ran. He had just witnessed the death of his master, mentor, god, and friend. Seeing Ratchet's ship about to take off, he ran in.

"Guys, Master Hand is dead," he said matter-of-factly. "He left Marth, Sora, and me in charge of our missions now. The two final commands he gave me were to get rid of these coconuts." He held about four coconuts up. "One of them is telekinetic, telepathic, and it has the ability to read minds... but it's a fruit. If someone breaks the right one open, they will get Master Hand's powers, but he told me specifically to make sure no one broke it open." He sat down for a few moments, and then asked to no one in particular: "Is Kairi back?"

"Let's get out of here!" said Samus. "Has anyone seen the Black Knight?"

"I'm here," said the Black Knight.

"How did get in so...Never mind. Let's go!"

The Black Knight wiped off the warp powder from his fingers. The small particles were all that remained. Where can I get more? Ike. He stole some from me before... The Black Knight smiled beneath his armor. Everything was going according to plan...

Still working on the next chapter. We're rapidly approaching the point where there are gaps in the story that need filling in (around chapter 8). I'll do the best I can in terms of remembering what goes where.

Chapter Five: Betrayal​

Samus looked out of the ship to see Nefirus. He's here already? Then she realized that Master Hand was missing. He couldn't be... Samus hollered out of the ship. "Alright everyone! Let's get out of here! We have to continue our mission. There's no time for grieving!"

Snake walked over to were everyone was, "Did anyone see anything unusal outside the ship?" Rya shook his head. "Nevermind, just me." "I guess we’re headed to the forest," he stated trying to change the subject. "Samus, you want to take control of the ship? I don't know what I’m doing here!"

Samus shoved Rya aside and took control. She wasn't upset at him, but she didn't feel like talking. If she hadn't been kissing Marth, she might have been able to stop Nefirus. She knew she really couldn't have stopped him, but she had already convinced herself. "Where's Link?" She asked. "We have to get out of here. If he doesn't hurry up, I'm leaving without him."

The Black Knight watched as Nefirus absorbed Master Hand. He caught his eye, and nodded. No one had noticed it but Nefirus. With Master Hand dead, things should be a little easier.

~Bowser’s Castle~

The koopa thrown off by Bowser fell in the black explosion. When the Koopa entered he saw everything covered in black. It was like a nightmare, a nightmare that you couldn't escape. Slowly the Koopa turned black himself, evil had over taken him. His eyes glowed red while it showed only the emotions of an insane person.

Bowser saw this on the camera.
"Woah, if I enter this ship into this then I can give my whole entire army the power of the dark aura! I will be their leader. Bwa ha ha! Then while I'm in there I can enter and transport to Ganondorf's place. The dark aura will give me the power to see where Ganondorf is. In the words of Mario, here we go!"

Bowser entered in his ship like he planned. All the koopas, goombas, bomb-ombs, and his other armies got the dark power. Even his ship got a dark appearance. The ship now had the power to disappear when sighted, and had stronger weapons. "Now, Dark Aura, reveal to me the location of Ganondorf!”

~Destiny Islands~

Rya jumped from his seat
My energy is back, thank god. "Carrying around those coconuts is going to look suspicious," he pointed out. "We should disguise them as something." "Master Hand was very wise and powerful. He will be missed, but we must not let him die for nothing."

~Subspace~

Ganondorf looked at the figure who had just spoken to him. He looked like a man of great evil and strength, just like himself. And behind this new ally, was a dragon. It was even bigger than Ganon.

"So you must be the new guy? Tabbu told me that we would soon be gaining a new and powerful ally. I believe he said your name was Durza? I'm Ganondorf. I'm second in command of Subspace. Under Tabbu himself. So whats with the dragon?"
Suddenly a black and purple portal appeared at the entrance of Ratchet's ship.
Sora ran towards her and cuddled her.
"Kairi, you're alive!"
Kairi cried. "Master Hand died because of me Sora, he traded himself for me, I know I couldn't do anything but you don't need me alive, they've got you Sora to seal the next 4 keyholes."

~Subspace~

Before Durza even had the chance to respond, Ganondorf noticed something. Something that would gravely decrease the chance of killing Nefirus. "I must take care of some business." said Ganondorf to Durza. "Do as you please untill I get back. Just don't attack any of the heroes who are working to destroy Nefirus."

"I understand," Durza hissed. He then mounted his black beast, which let out a load roar and showed off its teeth before flying off torwards the heroes.

With Durza gone, Ganondorf turned around and opened a portal. The portal led him straight to Tabbu. "Tabbu!"

"I know. He's dead. But, there is a chance we can bring him back. Do you remember how you revived me...?" After a short explanation of his plan, Ganondorf bowed to his master.

"Now go, Ganondorf. This must work!”

"Understood." Ganondorf turned around and opened a portal to the smash world and stepped through it. The area where the portal opened in the smash world was in Ratchet's ship. Ganondorf stepped out of it. "Is Link here?" He asked without even looking around. "It is of the utmost importance that I speak with him."

~Destiny Islands~

Sora and Kairi were talking. "Kairi, did Nefirus hurt you?"

"No, Sora I'm fine." They looked around the island looking at the bodies of the heartless and primids.

"Everything is going to be different now, isn't it Kairi?"

"Yes" she replied. She cried on Sora's left shoulder.

"Kairi we need to get on with the mission!" Sora said to her. They walked inside Ratchet's ship and saw the dark cape. Sora readied his keyblade and whispered in Kairi's ear: "That guy's evil, I can tell.”

Link saw Ganondorf. He tossed his coconuts into the ship, and then turned to him. "What do you want?" Link asked with hatred. Without waiting for an answer, he ran up and slashed his sword blindly at Ganondorf's face.

"Come on, Link! We don't have time to battle Ganondorf now! Get in the ship!" Ratchet called out.

"No! Come back for me in twenty minutes! I have some unfinished business with this guy!" Link paused for a moment to pay attention to Ganondorf, then responded again. "Put the coconuts in something that isn't buoyant, and drop them out at sea so they're never seen again!"

"I'm not here to fight." said Ganondorf as he drew his sword to block Link's attack. "I'm here to help you. If you care to sheath your sword long enough to hear me out."

Link sighed, "I will not sheath my sword, I will hold it out, to make sure you're not trying to kill me. Now what do you have to say?"

"I'm taking control of the ship, it's mine," Ratchet said bluntly. He took the seat away from Samus, and piloted out a few miles into sea. "Don't touch anything," Ratchet warned. He set the ship on hover, so it stayed stationary. He went up to the coconuts and put them in some old Gadgetron Ammo boxes he had saved in the back of his ship. He put the coconuts in them, then dropped them all overboard.

In the background, Ratchet had steered the ship out into the open ocean, and Link saw something fall. All was but a speck in the distance, though, and Link couldn't tell what it was.

Ganondorf sheathed his own sword in an attempt to show Link he truly did not want to fight. "Master hand is dead isnt he?" Asked Ganondorf. "Nefirus absorbed him? At the time of Master Hand's death, both Tabbu and I felt a great feeling of despair. A feeling that all hope was lost of defeating Nefirus and taking Subspace over for ourselves.

"Yes, Tabuu does still have the same goal he always had." Gaondorf replied in an impatient tone. "But even he knows we will not be able to defeat Nefirus if we don't work together. And then, once Nefirus is dead, then we'll go back to being enemies. Even you should relize that Nefirus is a far greater threat than Tabbu. Now about Master Hand... Tabbu believes it is possible to resurrect him. The same way I resurrected Tabbu."

Link perked up. "You might be able to bring Master Hand back?" He asked. Slowly, cautiously, he sheathed his sword. "I, too, understand that Nefirus is a greater threat. I will talk to the fellow leaders of my ship about making a temporary alliance, to get rid of Nefirus. But there is a condition: You must bring Master Hand back. We will give you one week, then all of my side will attack you personally. There's no way you can survive that. We will give you one week to prove your worth. If you do bring Master Hand back, however, we will allow you on Ratchet's ship."

Ratchet, come on... I need you to bring the ship back now! Link thought.

It took about a minute for the ship to turn around and come back for Link. It was longer than Link had hoped it would take, but it would do. As the door opened, Link got back on the ship.

Once inside, Link made an announcement. "As I've told you before, Master Hand gave one final command: To go to the forest in southwestern Smash!"

Ratchet waited a moment before taking off. He wasn't as willing to follow Link's orders as he was the Master Hand's, but Ganondorf was on the ground near them, he could enter the ship at any moment. At a speed of mach 7, Ratchet's ship took off and headed for the forest.

Ratchet's ship successfully landed in the forest. "Okay, everybody get out if the ship!" Link ordered. "We need to find the Triforce!" He looked around the forest. Ratchet knew that just south of them lay the Forest Temple, where the Triforce lay. "Let's go get the Triforce!" He ordered again. Under his breath, he sighed. I don't think I make a very good commander, he thought to himself.

-Meanwhile-

"One week is too long" Thought Ganondorf. "Link is as ignorant as ever. If Master hand isn't brought back within the next three days it could mean the end of us all..." Ganoondorf took out his sword and sliced down a tree in his anger. "I MUST FIND HIM AGAIN NOW!" Ganondorf turned around and opened a portal. Link appeared in it. "I reconize that place... but where is it?" Ganondorf let out a long and angry scream. He turned around and opened a portal to take him away. "Link... I will find you again."
He stepped into the portal, hoping to soon relize where that place was he had just seen.

~The Smash Dome~

Unbeknownst to everyone, Nefirus was once again watching the proceedings through a portal. Omega Ridley was looking over his shoulder. "SO THAT'S WHERE THEY HID HIS POWER, A COCONUT." Nefirus almost laughed at the ridiculousness of it. All of Master Hand's power, inside a tiny shell!

"Shall I retrieve it, Master? I am powerful enough to take on the heroes single-handedly in my new form." Ridley especially wanted to kill Samus and Marth, for destroying his original body.

"NO, WE HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD... TABUU MUST REALIZE THAT EVEN UNITED, WITH MASTER HAND REVIVED, THEIR CHANCES AGAINST ME ARE PITIFUL. HE MUST BE DESPERATE TO ESCAPE MY ATTACK."

Nefirus turned to Omega Ridley. “YOU HAVE SERVED ME WELL, RIDLEY. YOUR POWER IS NOW GREATER THAN MOST, AND YOU SHALL SOON HOLD A POSITION OF AUTHORITY IN THE COMING WORLD OF SUBSPACE. HOWEVER, DO NOT RUSH TO ACHIEVE IT JUST YET. WE STILL HAVE MUCH TIME, AND THE BLACK KNIGHT WILL PROBABLY KILL THEM ALL THE NEXT CHANCE HE GETS."
"Yes, master." Ridley bowed and exited the chamber.


~Somewhere in Subspace~

Ganondorf went back to Tabbu, tired of looking for Link. Fortuanently Tabbu wasn’t angry at all about Ganondorf not bringing Link back. "I was watching the whole thing," said Tabbu. "Those coconuts are the items Master Hand hid his power in. Since Nefirus and I are one in the same, I know he was watching the whole thing as well. I know he saw Ratchet drop them in the ocean. And I also know that he thinks he has plenty of time befre he has to retrieve them. But that is where he is wrong. Wait here Ganondorf."

Tabuu opened up a subspace portal leading to the bottom of the ocean. He stepped through it and appeared right in front of the box containing the coconuts. He picked them up and stepped back thorugh the portal.
"How amusing, the games children play..."

"Now," he said to Ganondorf. "I need you to go find Link and gain his trust. You must bring him back here to begin the resurrection. This must be done within three days." Tabbu ordered this to Ganondorf in a worried tone, for he was not sure if the resurrection would be a success. Ganondorf opened a portal and continued his search for Link.

~The Smash Dome~

Nefirus laughed. Tabuu was a fool! It was hard to believe they had even been one and the same at one point. Now that he saw Tabuu getting the coconuts, he could track him. Nefirus instantly locked on to his postion in Subspace and teleported there.

"HELLO, TABUU. IT'S TIME TO FINISH THE FIGHT WE STARTED ON THE ISLE OF THE ANCIENTS."

-MEANWHILE-

Bowser’s ship entered to the place where Ganondorf had been. The sky grew black around them as he glared down at the heroes.
“I won’t be ignored! DARK AURA! It’s time for a Brawl!”
Black flames splintered to life around the Koopa King as his overwhelming power grew.

Sora, sitting down, jumped when he saw Bowser teleport in. Not bothering to ask how he found them, Sora shouted, “You won't defeat us Bowser!" He ran towards Bowser and swung the keyblade.

Bowser got hit, or so Sora thought; it was a mere Shadow Clone. Then Bowser appeared behind Sora, “I came ready!” He got ready to claw Sora again. Sora was hit by the surprise attack. It was painful and left a huge black cut on his back. Sora shouted at the others. "You go find the Relic, I'll hold him off!"

~Subspace~

"I thought you were tracking these coconuts Nefirus," stated Tabbu. "But it was a chance I had to take. However, it is not time for us to meet in battle again. I will soon be able to rival you in power. But that time is not now." Tabbu opened a portal and threw the cocnuts in it. "I have just sent them to a place that only I and one other know about. I have created it in such a way that you will not be ably to track them, and no matter how hard you try, you will never find that place."

Tabuu was speaking victoriously by the time he finished speaking. After a short pause, words flowed once again. "I know what your thinking. Since we are both one in the same you should be able to easily find and destroy this place and recover the coconuts. But I was not the only one who made this place. I had a little help from a friend. A friend with a power that you can not destroy." At that Tabbu opened another portal. Before leaving he said: "And yes, the arm cannon is also there." At that he stepped through the portal and disappeared.

~The Northern Forest~

Sora casted Blizzard on Bowser, knowing that Blizzard is Fire's weakness Bowser froze. “No! Never been this cold!”Bowser managed to bring the black flames out, breaking the ice, burning towards Sora

Sora got burnt, leaving black marks on his hands. He couldn't lift his arms because of the black marks. Bowser jumped up, ready for a hard ground pound on Sora while he was down.

Sora was burnt badly, leaving black skull marks on his hands. The kid noticed that he could not move his arms or legs. “Man, I'm in trouble.” His skin was gradually turning dark black.

“Bwa ha ha, feel the sting!”

-Meanwhile-

Marth turned to Samus. "Go with the others and find the relic, I'll help Sora with Bowser and come back to find you. I promise!" Marth turned to Bowser. Bowser had become so immensely powerful, he wondered if he had a chance.
"Bwah ha ha! Pathetic!"
Bowser spotted the moment Marth slipped in his guard and took it, charging with the force of a thousand bulls. Marth barely had time to brace for impact, but the impact never came.
"GRARGH!"
A short, hooded figure had burst out of a subspace portal and rammed headfirst into Bowser, sending him spinning off into the woods. Marth turned to get a better look at the mysterious figure, but he couldn't make out a single feature under the dark rags he was wearing. The figure pointed to Marth and let out a small burst of fiery light. Marth felt filled with a feeling of hope, hope unlike anything he ever felt. Marth gasped at the burst of positive energy. The figure remained motionless, but Marth swore he could see the twitch of a smile under the piercing darkness.
"Don't give up hope! We can do this!"
Marth was sure he had heard the voice before, but before he had the time to answer, the figure nodded and dissappeared back into Subspace. Meanwhile, Bowser was shaking himself off. Marth braced for the fight with his newfound strength.
I made a promise to Samus! I'll keep it! Suddenly Marth's blade glowed with an intense light.
"What the..." As the light cleared, Marth found himself holding an ornate and beautiful keyblade. A voice rang out inside his head.

"I AM A GODDESSES OF THIS WORLD, PALUTENA. I HAVE WITNESSED YOUR BRAVERY AND DEVOTION TO YOUR FRIENDS. YOU NEVER GO BACK ON YOUR PROMISES. THIS KEYBLADE IS CALLED THE OATHKEEPER, SO YOU MAY KEEP THOSE PROMISES AND RETURN TO THE ONE YOU LOVE. GOOD LUCK, MARTH."
"Wait! Did you send that hooded figure to aid me?"
"NO, BUT HIS SPIRIT DREW ME TO YOURS. I AM SURE WE WILL BOTH SEE HIM AGAIN SOON."
Marth got back into a fighting position with his new weapon. It glinted in the setting sun.
So I'm a keyblade master too? Woah. This new weapon is far mre powerful than my Falchion.
Marth felt more confident about the battle now. This evens the playing field.

OOC: Remember what I said about altering the story slightly to make it fit better? This is where that starts to come in.

GAME LOADING...​

Sora saw Marth with his new weapon. "Marth, I need help, I can't move!"

Meanwhile, Kairi and the others were searching for the Triforce. "What does this 'Triforce' look like, and what is it?”

Suddenly, Sora could move his body again. But a huge head ache caused Sora to crawl on the floor. "I won't let you! I won’t kill Marth! No!” A tear fell down onto Sora's cheek.
He was trying to shake off the dark subspace energy inside him but as his eyes turned dark red, his keyblade turned black and instead of the words "FOR MY FRIENDS," it said "FEAR NEFIRUS!" Sora charged towards Marth and grabbed his neck.

"I won't let you win Nefirus! No!" Sora was in pain. Tears flowed down Sora's neck. "I'm sorry Marth...."

Marth struggled in Sora's grip, but it was no use. Sora had become frighteningly strong. As Marth's life began to ebb away, he thought desperately, Perhaps this keyblade... works on Subspace...like how Sora's works on heartless... Marth had no other choice. He jammed his keyblade into Sora and turned it. To his delight, the darkness began to fade away! He had been right!

Marth turned back to Bowser. "Come on, Sora, let's finish this guy!" Sora's keyblade turned back to normal and "FOR OUR FRIENDS" appeared once again. His skin turned back to normal except for the black scar on his back and his eyes turned back to bright blue.

Sora ran towards Bowser. "For our friends!" The Keyblader of Subspace and Twilight charged towards the dinosaur at great speed. Then two blue bright lights shone from their keyblades. "LOCK THE DARK AURA AWAY FROM BOWSER'S HEART AND DEFEAT HIM!" said Palutena, telling them what to do.

-Meanwhile-

Snake and Rya approached the temple that housed the Triforce. It was old, with large columns supporting the roof. The temple was not very wide, however the length was difficult to determine as it streached far back into the thick canape of the forest. Rya sat down on a step and said, "We should wait for the others."

Durza circled over Bowser, craving for some action. “Oh, what the hell, lets have some fun!” Durza's beast tucked in its wings and straightened its tail. The dragon rolled into a dive towards Bowser. Durza drew his sword, and swung at the oversized lizard's head.

-Meanwhile-

Samus watched Marth and Sora fight Bowser. She needed to get her arm cannon back. Then she remembered: Tabuu had it, and hadn't he just joined their side? "Where's Tabuu?" she asked to whoever was listening.

The Black Knight was also watching the fight. Nefirus, he thought. Give me the master ball. Then the heroes will believe they have it. The battle can end then. I'll transport it to you later.

Link turned around. He saw Bowser facing off with Marth and Sora, but he didn't have time to get involved in the fight. He had to get that Relic!

Privately, he walked south towards the Temple. In about ten minutes he had arrived at his destination, pleased that he ran into no Primids or Heartless. However, he was unhappy when he realized that the door was sealed off, both magically and physically. There was no way to get in. His brow furrowed, but he saw an inscription on the door.

Link had to squint, as it was written in Hylian. My doors shall open only when thy hath proven thy self a true hero. It confused Link for a moment, and then his heart jumped. He knew what he had to do. He unsheathed the Master Sword, looking for a pedestal. Off in the corner, surrounded by some overgrowth shrubbery, Link saw it. He approached it, and placed the Master Sword within it. Behind him, Link heard a noise. He looked, and his hope was correct: The doors were opening! Redrawing the Master Sword, Link walked into the temple. Behind him, the doors closed again.

-Meanwhile-

With Sora back on his feet and Bowser apparently on the ropes, Marth felt that Sora could handle him. "Sora! I'm going after the others! Good luck!" Marth ran off into the forest in the direction of Link and Samus.

-Meanwhile-

Snake watched as Link ran through the door as it shut behind him. "Sure, I'll help you Link, no problem," Snake said sarcasticly. "Oh well. If our little leader wants to get the relic all by himself, fine by Me."

"Shut up Snake, you will get to shoot something soon enough," Rya said as he meditated on the roof of the temple. I feel like his mother sometimes…

I wish my friends were here... was the first thought that jumped to Link's mind. Somewhere in the bowels of the temple was the Triforce, which he alone had to recover. In front of him were many of his old foes from Hyrule. There were Octoroks, Dodongos, Lizalfos, Stalfos, and many other creatures milling about.

Overall, the temple didn't appear very different from many of the other temples he had been in over time. The current room was very large, bright, and spacious. There was an elevator that appeared to go down in the middle, but the door to it was locked.

On the other side of the room, a key was trapped behind two closed gates. There was a weight switch that had to be stepped upon for the door to open. Link walked over to it, and stepped on it. Too easy, he thought, but as soon as he stepped off, the door closed. I should have known...

Back near the entrance of the room, there were some pots on a ledge above the door. Of course it's going to be difficult like that... How am I supposed to get close to those? His thoughts were interrupted when a Stalfos and two Lizalfos closed in on him. "Aay!" Link drew his sword, and immediately stabbed it into one of the Lizalfos's hearts. It recoiled in pain, then disappeared in a small explosion of darkness. Link easily killed the other two, sustaining no blows himself. They parried a few times, but Link finished them both of with a Spin Attack. Without even a deep breath, he walked over to the pots. How am I going to get those? He thought.

Then it hit him. My Clawshot! He took out the device and grappled onto the ledge. It pulled him up, and he easily grabbed one of the pots. He jumped off, ran over to the weight switch, and placed the pot on it. To his satisfaction, the door opened. He grabbed the key and ran over to the door to the elevator, nimbly avoiding the gaze of his foes. He got in the elevator, and waited for it to lower him. One room down, he thought.


The Black Knight saw the door shut behind Link and he jumped out of his hiding place. Foolish child. You'll be all alone when you come out with the Triforce. But then, just as the Black Knight was about to do his never before seen victory dance, Samus showed up. "What are you doing here?" asked Samus.

"Maybe I should ask you the same question," responded the Black Knight.

"Tell me why you're here!"

"To get the Triforce. But you can't stop me now. This armor can only be destroyed by a sword blessed by the goddess!"

"Is that all you ever say?"

“You are a fool!" said the Black Knight. "You don't have any weapons to fight me with!" While the Black Knight was still smiling, Samus used her grapple beam to tear off a piece of the Black Knight's armor. At first, the Black Knight was a little shocked. But then he smiled as he looked down at his second layer of armor. "Very clever," he said. "But as you can see, I have made plans for this." At that, the Black Knight swung his sword at Samus, and it hit her directly in the stomach. "You are no great bounty hunter," he said as he watched Samus turn into a trophy. Now just to wait for Link.

Marth ran into the clearing in front of the temple and saw Black Knight standing over Samus' trophy. “Samus! No! Black Knight, what have you done?” Marth pulled out the Oathkeeper. He was aware of Black Knight's powerful armor, but Oathkeeper had been blessed by Palutena. He only hoped that it was enough.

"Hmph. Do you think you can kill me with that?" But then he looked over at Marth, and he recognized that he was a skilled swordsman. "Here, take this blade." The Black Knight tossed Marth his own sword, and drew another weapon.

-Meanwhile-

Back in the temple, Link was getting along fairly well. The second room was much unlike the first. There were no windows, as it was underground. It was a long and narrow hallway, with many Blue Bubbles, floating skulls that are on fire with hexing abilities, hovering throughout. Link knew that these were very difficult to dodge, so he held up his shield in defense. As soon as he got close enough, he struck them with his sword twice, which killed them.

An unlocked door was at the end of the hallway. Link pushed it open. Thank the goddesses I don't have an annoying fairy with me this time... Link thought. The next room was large, but slightly smaller than the first. The atmosphere was much darker, too. At the far side of the room sat the Triforce, to Link's delight.

But before Link got to the other side of the room, a massive statue of a knight came to life, blocking the way to the sacred Relic. It wielded an equally massive battle hammer, and its shield nearly covered its entire body. Once again, Link’s face became angry, and he prepared to fight.

-Meanwhile-

Outside, Marth grabbed the sword Black Knight had tossed to him. A bit heavier than Oathkeeper, but it will have to do for now. At least the Black Knight had honor. Marth readied himself in a fighting position. He had to save Samus!

The Black Knight waited for Marth to attack. The very air was becoming tense, but the Black Knight wasn't worried in the slightest. Despite respecting Marth, he did not believe that Marth could defeat him. The Black Knight had defeated his own master, after all.

No one was moving, so the Black Knight made his first move. With his back to Samus's trophy, he slashed at Marth twice; both attacks missed. He was just trying to engage Marth now. He had to make sure Samus wasn't revived.

Kairi saw Samus being turned into trophy. Sora was right about you, she thought, disappointed in the man. She tried to sneak behind Black Knight so she could get Samus, and with him being preoccupied with Marth, it wasn’t too hard.

Samus was revived the moment Kairi touched her trophy. Then the Black Knight slashed at her again as soon as she was returned to her normal state. She was a trophy again. "Ha ha ha!" The Black Knight couldn't help but laugh. But then he became more serious. "You are interupting a fight, madam," he said, referring to Kairi. "If you don't leave, I'm going to have to stop you myself.”

Marth dashed around Black Knight, trying to confuse him and catch him offguard. He sent out a couple of quick attacks with the blade, but they were deflected. This blade is really much harder to wield! Thought Marth. The “quick attacks” were not very quick at all. He dropped it and pulled out Oathkeeper.

“Let’s see you dodge this!” Marth dashed at the Black Knight and slashed in a great arc.

The blow hit the Black Knight right upside the head. To his dismay, his helmet fell off. He quickly picked it up and put it back on. "How? That blade... It is not one that I know. No matter." The Black Knight swung at Marth, aiming for his stomach.

Marth was caught off-guard. The Black Knight had recovered much faster than he had thought! The blade slashed into Marth’s armor and made him sidestep out of the way quickly. A trickle of blood ran down his side. Marth knew that he wouldn’t last much longer against the Black Knight. The only gauge of his power he had seen was him taking down Samus, and Marth knew that Samus was just as strong as he, if not more so. Marth decided he would go down fighting. He readied his blade.
“Come then, child… to your doom.”
“Not without something to remember me by!”
Marth ran at the Black Knight at full speed. As he brought his sword up to bear, Marth spun onto the tip of the blade at somersaulted backwards, slicing a small wound into the Black knight’s cheek with technical precision. The Black Knight made no expression to show he had felt it and ran Marth through with his sword, completing his motion. Marth collapsed on the floor, expecting death. However, he instead felt the cold pang that indicated trophication.
He has the power to kill, but instead aims at incapacitation? Something’s not right here…
As he turned into a trophy, he gasped to Kairi. “Leave me... and get Samus out of here. Go… now!”

Kairi stepped back slowly from the trophy, then she casted Blizzard at the statue and Samus was revived. She casted Aero instantly and Samus was covered in a wind shield. “Let's go and help Sora!”
The Black Knight paused for the briefest moment to glance unemotionally at Marth.
A fine warrior indeed… it is too bad I didn’t have time to spar, he was a worthy foe.
The Black Knight moved on to Samus and Kairi without looking back at Marth. He made one wide swipe at them, and smiled. "You cannot escape the Black Knight!" As he was mid-sentence, Samus turned into a trophy. “Some bounty hunter you are,” he said grimly.

Ratchet approached the Black Knight next. When he saw the trophies of Samus and Marth on the ground, Ratchet got extremely angry. “Traitor! You betrayed us all!” His face became disorted, twisted with rage. He ran up to the Black Knight and attacked him with his wrench.

“I'll kill you!” Ratchet tried to get to one of the trophies, but he tripped on a root. Above him stood the Black Knight. His anger changed to fear, then hopelessness. He tried to get himself free of the root, but he knew he wouldn't have the time to escape. "It's been nice knowing you, Clank..." He braced himself. Clank, who was asleep again, was silent.

The Black Knight struck his blade into Ratchet with satisfaction. Now for Snake and Rya, he thought. Kairi dodged and ran away from the scene. She sprinted across the beautiful scenery and saw Sora, as a trophy. No! She slashed Bowser squarely in the face.

The Black Knight followed Kairi. He slowed down when he saw Bowser up ahead. While Kairi was preparing to fight Bowser, He walked up behind her and stabbed her in the back. "Time to meet your end, Koopa King. Unless you'd rather run away, like I think I can assume you will?” Bowser didn’t stick around to answer him. He had flown off in his koopa clown cart, as usual. Black Knight would have laughed if he wasn't so serious.

Kairi just barely dodged it. But even so, Kairi was soon a trophy. Link was the only hero left, it seemed, that could save his friends, along with the rest of the universe.

Hey Bryan, this is a really entertaining read. I've smiled quite a few times at the memories and I was reminded of the inspiration for my own novel, which came from this very role play.

In fact, my novel is loosely based on the Alternate Plot-- It focuses on the adventures of a 16-year-old boy named Dominic (essentially representative of all of the heroes, though he does have a unique, albeit quiet and reserved personality) who adventures through the land of Anvale (Smashworld). After he is told by Aroen, God of Creation (Master Hand) about the new evils of Volatin (Subspace), he takes off on an adventure to stop it.

Varen II, reincarnation of Nefeeren, God of Corruption (Nefirus and Tabuu, respectively... this doesn't fit exactly, but like I said, not everything is the same), is trying to stop Dominic as he adventures with Aroen to find the lost weapons of Selerek (Zellrock), friend of the recently deceased Mortaren, God of Destruction (Crazy Hand). But a giant assassin who is obsessed with honor and clad in thick, black armor named Tieren (The Black Knight) is chasing them!

Eventually, Aroen sacrfices himself in a fight with Varen II to save Dominic, just like Master Hand did in the AP. In his last words, Aroen tells him about the four keys to defeating Volatin, hid in the four corners of Anvale-- mountain, desert, sky, and mountain.

Dominic runs away and finds the first one in the southern forest, but Tieren attacks him! After a heartfelt speech by Dominic at Tieren's blade, Tieren decides not to kill the young hero and rather disappears into Volatin. Over the course of the next three chapters, he decides to join Dominic, just like the Black Knight did in the same scenario, only it happened in a much shorter timespan than 3 chapters

That's where I am right now in the novel based off of the plot. The Alternate Plot will be first on the list of acknowledgments if it ends up getting published. It's currently at 94,000 words (or longer than the first two Harry Potter books and most high school English class novels) even though it's only half over.

At any rate, keep up the good work, Bryan! This is a lot of fun to read, and it's inspirational, too!
