We can conclude one thing, though. If Xerneas appears as a stage hazard, the stage is sunny, or at least sometimes is. That's not exactly a rare trait for an area, but it might allow us to disqualify certain places. Obviously indoor areas, but we can probably eliminate any areas in XY that are shrouded in different weather conditions, like Snowbelle City. That's just an example, I doubt Snowbelle would ever actually be a Smash Bros stage.

Going by that picture, Geosenge Town appears to be sunny even during the actual plotstuff. Couldn't remember for sure.

Makes things look brighter for ridley. In a scenario where Ridley isn't playable, it would make sense for sakurai to try and appeal to the fans by making him an assist trophy, sort of like how he was a boss in Brawl. That scenario, assuming they don't have two metroid villians as assist trophies, seems to have just been thrown out the window. Similar logic applies to ghirahim and skull kid, but to a lesser degree, as there are more notable zelda characters than there are metroid characters. Ridley didn't have all that much competition for an assist trophy slot.

I don't agree with your logic.

Again, I don't see how the Other M model couldn't be viably scaled down. I don't have any in depth proportional analysis to back that up, his appearance in Other M just seems like it could easily be scaled down to the size of a large fighter, like Bowser.

I think that would probably be pretty impossible. [Laughs] If we had put our best efforts into it, we may have been able to do it. But he might have been a little slow. Would that be all right? [Laughs]

In regards to Ridley. A valid thing to point out in anti Ridley arguments, that Sakurai himself seems to think it wouldn't work. It doesn't necessarily apply to Other M's Ridley, as said game was released in 2010.

I don't know about you guys, but I can see that thing understandably being "a little slow" on the battlefield. Moreso that the skinnier Ridley we're all used to. We can all assume that speed wasn't the only issue Sakurai saw in skinny Ridley, whether or not he'd look silly was undoubtedly another.

"Skinny" Ridley does seem like he'd be harder to scale down without making him look silly. Other M's "buff" Ridley, however, I feel could look natural even if scaled down.

Maybe Sakurai genuinely doesn't intend to heavily scale down any character, but we can't read his mind.
