Pokemon X/Y

I'm more interested in the new Pokemon. Leafeon is only on there because of my friend, Mawile because of its mega evolution (which is my favorite mega evolution right now), and Sableye because I'm motherf*cking Neosquid.

I'm certainly tempted t' put Mega Charizard X on my X team... but I've no idea where it'l fit. Perhaps I'll use it over Tyrantrum since I'd like to have a Fly slave in-party anyways. S'pose the team plans are this for now, although they could change at any moment. 'Specifically my Y team.

X: Fennekin / Lucario / Mega Charizard X / Sylveon / Doublade / Pangoro
Y: Froakie / Event Torchic / Absol / Talonflame / Meowstic (female) / Tyrantrum

all of the fire types lawl

Speakin' of, do y'all think Mega Charizard X is gonna be completely outed competitively, solely due to Charizard Y's ability? Since Charizard X (FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY) gains Dragon-type, said fantastic offensive typing might be enough t' give it stiff competition for a team slot over Charizard Y if Drought doesn't really benefit their team. And let's not forget Charizard X loses half it's Stealth Rock weakness. So long as X's ability isn't ****, I think it'l outclass Y in regards to bein' a standalone hole-puncher/sweeper. Whereas Y will obviously be outright superior as a team player for Sunny Day teams.

The only old Pokes I'm usin' are those that're given a Mega evolution. Though I'd still use Lucario regardless.

Abilities that boost specific move types, such as Reckless, Iron Fist, and Sheer Force give at least a 20% boost to moves in question. I'm sure Tough Claws won't dip below that 20%, which is pretty significant. Especially when you have absurdly powerful moves to spam, namely Outrage and Flare Blitz.

Tyrantrum
Damn it all. Thanks for reminding me. There goes another free slot. ¬_¬;

I hope both the Mega evolution and Tough Claws boosts are high, as it'l then make Charizard X one'a the scariest Outrage abusers in the game. I fear Mega Garchomp might be able t' outclass it otherwise.

Nope. Not when Mega Garchomp lacks Dragon Dance, especially with that non-impressive 92 base speed. Well, I'm assuming Garchomp's speed will drop by 10, that seems to be the norm for minor speed loss caused by evolution...

My problem with that is that you have to mega evolve during battle as far as I understand,
Whereas mega charizard X will still suffer stealth rock damage eating half it's health before it can transform into said awesome typing... So unfortunately, for me at least, I think chary Y is gonna outclass chary X as an overall hole puncher.

That is indeed a good point, Storm, I never thought about that. Still, it's a one time issue, as once you mega evolve it I'm almost positive it remains in that form for the duration of the battle.

I agree with you that that is the case, that it would remain that form for the battles duration, but that will still mean chary losing 50% of its health before it can do anything. And what if mega evolving takes a turn to do? You don't get to attack, but you change forms, after being dropped to 50% HP? Seems like the short end of the stick to me... I'm sorry but for me, it just seems like chary's mega evos will be more novelty than give it any kind of edge in competitive battle,
Banishing the poor fire lizard to UU and NU forever...

You Mega Evolve the same turn ya attack, no turns wasted. If lead Charizard X can be a viable thing, that 50% health loss is utter nonsense.

Also, if Game Freak decides t' give Dual Chop to Charizard, Sash-reliant SR leads suddenly have the tables turned on 'em. Steel-types obviously won't be stayin' in either.

oright dragin dance

Mega Garchomp might still be the more powerful hole-puncher... possibly in regards t' both attack stats dependin' on how large it's boosts are.

For one, even if you don't spin away the hazards, it's entirely possible to get Charizard in before rocks are up. Say their rock setter is Skarmory. Xatu, for example, can either force it out or straight up kill it with Heat Wave. I'll use Gigalith as another example. No Magic Bounce user can take it out due to its high attack, but you can still prevent it from getting rocks up. Gliscor can Taunt Gigalith, and proceed to poison it or wear it down with Earthquake.

And as Dirge said, it doesn't use up a turn to mega evolve.

Dual Chop doesn't have nearly enough power to one shot physically bulky Pokemon at full health. Here, have a calc:

252 Atk+ Twistedspoon Deoxys-A Zen Headbutt vs 252/252+ Golem 36.5% - 43.1%

Zen Headbutt has the same effective power as Dual Chop, while Twistedspoon mimics Tough Claws. Also, Deoxys A.

I understand that you said Focus Sash, and not Sturdy, but does anybody even use frail suicide leads for Stealth Rock anymore? I know there's a few Spikers that do that, like Froslass and Accelgor, but nothing is coming to mind for SR...

Where does it say it doesn't use a turn to mega evolve? I haven't seen anything like that posted/revealed anywhere. And yes I realize he is viable and you can use him but you have to build your team either around Zard getting out or using him as "Dirge" stated previously. I just still don't see him being viable enough to make a dent in competitive play.

Only 9 more days till X/Y.
This reminds me - anyone want to start counting down? MR and I (well he started it, I finished it) counted the days before Awakening released.

If you guys are bothered enough to do it then go ahead. But I'm not too hype for X/Y, so I'm not going to.
