I don't care for this "Metroid-Fox" 'n other such stuff either, but I hear 'bout such big titles at least within a few days of their announcement/hinting/whatever.

Crackpot theories always make it on the news. I remember when we were expecting Episode 3 a couple of months after Episode 2. Or the rumours of a Steam console. They vanish as quickly as they arrived.

Nintendo has been wanting to crossover them for a while

Well, I think consideration of the possibility would be a better phrase than wanting
and from the looks of all these crossovers it would not seem so outlandish
The only source I could find was a guy named Paul Gale and his trusted source
which still keeps this game in the rumor category
