can someone help me please

i just got gimp


i made a background

but when i try to put the kirby picture into the background it makes a white
cube around the kirby picture and it messes up the background


what can i do to make the white stuff not be there

now i have never used gimp but if it bringing up a white box around ur image ur have to cut ur image out..like i said i never used gimp so i dont know its tools, but is there a laso tool or a pen tool or anything to cut it out.

ok u can prob use the laso to cut around ur image and then drag it to ur bg image...there are more complex ways of doin this such as adjusting ur contrast and stuff to just select the whole image which is so easier but again like i said i dont have gimp...sorry...hope i helped though.
