Wii in Australia thread

I haven't seen any PS3 games! Sure, I haven't gone in EB Games lately - or when I do, it's like a quick dash in before I turn and flee (because that's totally not suspicious looking). Like when the PS3 first came out I glanced at the price and the little 7 year old kid standing next to it screaming 'I WANT! I WANT!'

But since then, the PS3 section at Big W hasn't really grown - although the PS2 section is still huge. I thought that maybe the Wii must have been doing good, as it's section had expanded - but only to make room for the amount of crappy games they have out.

Deanis Kororinpa is an alright game, its the best of the worst I guess. At least Kororinpa isn't another mini game fest. Out of all the minigame compilations Warioware is probabbly the best, and unless it can match up to the insaness (?word?) that is Warioware I ain't buying.

I made a discovery just now and almost died (of laughter) there is a game that apperntly exsist called Asterix at the Olympic Games.....yes Asterx......and yes the Olympic Games......why does this sound familiar? Now wait here's an interesting quote:

"Over the last decade Atari has sold more than three million Asterix video games in Europe, and it's a joy to be able to continue to build on this great legacy with something this brilliantly original,"
Is he serious? he has to be joking...... and just to clear something up this game is a tie-in to a movie which is a tie-in to the awesome comic book.Well I dunno where I was going with that but well to sumarize its ...another.....one of them gaaahhhh

ive seen an asterix and oberlix (?) movie on world movies on foxtel, it um...sucked! and was in german.
but hey, if it sells then why not keep making it?
i keep buying crappy spider-man games but that is only cause im a massive fan.

We had an Asterix game on our Sega Master System...was absolutely brilliant, one of the most fun platformers I've ever played, the characters had unique attributes, the levels were fun, so there you go, movie/book/comic tie-ins CAN work, and sell. But the ones on Wii just suck, and are all last minute cash-ins. I'm sure 2008 will have more quality. :)

OMG I haven't posted on this page yet! :yikes: Not much to say really, IGN Australia's best reviewed game this year was Super Mario Galaxy. Speaking of which I am now up to 86 stars in Galaxy, I'm pacing myself.

Edit - Looks like I'm starting this page off instead.

I had a SMG session today - I went back and tried to get all the random stars that I'd deemed to difficult. I always seemed to lose to many lives, so what I did was, I got about 30 lives and went and faced all those so called 'difficult' levels. Is it just me or do any extra lives all disappear when you save and quit? Like, I swear last time I stopped playing I had like 20 lives, this morning when I turned it on I had 4 lives. Is that normal, or have I just forgotten that I must have died about 15 times?

Yeah, Wii has had zero valuable 3rd party support. But that's looking to shape up either next year or the year after.
Hang on..its had some. SSX Blur was a fairly solid Wii effort, has a fantastic interface, uses the potential of the Wii remote. Same goes for Godfather (even though it was a wii-make of an old game). SOME third parties have tried, many just seem too lazy to try a bit harder....

I'm looking forward to Zack and Wiki, which has recieved great reviews. It would be the top third party game followed by Medal of Honour: Heroes 2, both of which are coming to Australia next year.

Ubisoft has been pretty solid, though their quality is questionable.
Meh, Ubisoft's quality has always been fairly questionable IMO. RedSteel was the first game I bought for Wii, also the first i traded in.

Why would you? Red Steel was decent for a launch game, if it had spent more time in the works it would've been better but it was still enjoyable even thouhg it took me a little while to get around to playing it and now I refuse to play it, but the experiance while I was playing it was awesome. Red Steel 2 ftw!!

Anyhoo I think Ubisofts goods are too far outweighed by the bad, Petz and mediocre gmaes

ANd thats kinda the point... it DIDNT spend more time in the works, it was an awesome concept though, so I am keenly awaiting Red Steel 2.
