Wii in Australia thread

Well, I went out and bought SMG! Haven't played much of it yet... I stopped to show, but haven't quite got to the shower yet. But it looks all good so far. Anyway, I really should have edited my last reply... But ah well, I'll just beg for forgiveness in this post. Sorry!

I got it from Big W - but god was it annoying trying to get it. Everytime I walked over to the Wii section there was someone standing there, or someone arrived and got in my way. You know how it is, you're standing looking at a shelf and someone stands directly in front of you? I was looking at some DVD's at one point, and someone was slowly edging to where I was standing! I can't believe people sometimes. They are so annoying. At lunch there was also this annoying lady that spoke very very loudly!

Anyway, back to the SMG quest. So, anyway the first time I looked I could not see it anywhere, because I had to contend with this girl next to me talking loudly on her phone to someone over what game they wanted or something. After she left I went back, only to be joined by another annoying person, so instead I took note of a few other games I could play, as I thought SMG must have sold out already - after all, I couldn't see it. So, I left and went and watched a movie. Around 4pm I came back, and FINALLY spotted SMG! It was directly in front of where that girl on the phone was standing, and directly in front of every other annoying person. Although, it was towards the bottom of the shelf, but on top of the shelf it had a display advertising it. You'd think it would be right at the top, generally very close to the display that was advertising it. But no, they put it in a place where people stand directly in front of and annoy me. Because I couldn't see it, I was thinking of buying Metroid Prime Corruption or something. I also put Mario Party 8 and Resident Evil on my Xmas list. I am now going to go and look at the reviews for all thsoe games, and see which ones I really should get.

Don't trust the reviews for Mario Party 8, they were terrible if I remember correctly. I think the reviewers scored it harshly because it was quite similar to the other 7 iterations of the game. I personally enjoy Mario Party a great deal, if I have someone to play with. Both Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicals are also apparently very good.

I've only got an edition of Mario Party for 64... Mario Party 2? I think after that I hired out the one after that and it wasn't very good. Well, I didn't enjoy it as much. I don't think I ever played any of the Mario Party's for Game Cube though.... Unless I have Mario Party 3, and played Mario Party 4 on GameCube. I look when I'm downstairs next... In fact, I really should consider eating dinner.

Anyway, I think I'll get Metroid Prime for my birthday. It's on the 7th people! It's the SAME DAY the Wii was released here in Aus. It was my birthday present (to myself). Of course the only problem is, I won't be able to get the Wii game until the week after, because I won't be able to go out of town to get the game. I shall also buy Resident Evil 4 for Christmas... In fact, I'll probably end up getting them at the same time, because I'll probably be doing Christmas Shopping on the 15th anyway.

Anyway, I probably won't get Mario Party 8 - it may be alright for multiplayer, but I still only have one Wii remote. I refuse to buy anymore - after all, I already have one! If my brothers want to play then they should buy their own! That's fair, right?

My friends don't really like video games. One of my friends come close - she plays the Sims 2. However, not really into my type of games. I think Mortal Kombat would give her a heart attack and she would never talk to me again. In fact, she'd start to worry I was going to go crazy one day and kill people. She's that type of person. It's really hard watching movies with her, because she's so easily scared! Another friend likes WiiSports, but that's it.

Maybe I need to get some male friends. Well, I do but... They are really errr... boring. Yes, I nearly went to sleep when I was in their company, with the friends mentioned above. The two friends they totally enjoyed their company though... I've never been so bored. So, I really don't think they'd be very good to play with. And I think I'd scare them if they played games with me. I know I scare my parents when I scream DIE in Mortal Kombat. But oh - SMG is a NICE game. I'm not totally into blood lust.

Actually, I do have one friend that would be happy to play - but she's into PS2!

Hello Everyone! I have returned...from recording High School Musical 1 and 2 which were on today for my sister who was out......My God they were **** movies...It was totally random singing, like Grease, I can handle it isn't all that unbearable but this...whoever made it should be shot, even if it is popular. My sister loves it though and my recording for the number 2 one was stingy with half the movie being cut out and more ads than movie basically. So I'll just buy her the DVD, better be cheap....

Anyways, I have also been playing SMG today, that games is so freakin' good, it really has everything that a good game needs. I've got 31 stars now and 4 grand stars, what was it? There was Bee Mario, Booo Mario and....? I can't remember the other, anyways.....IT'S GOOOOOOOOD!

I haven't seen any places where you can hire games from around the Sydney area which really sucks, Blockbuster is your best bet though.

I probably won't play anymore SMG for the next week seeing as I have a maths exam on this Friday and I don't know anything. I told myself that I wasn't gonna play it until after friday, but I did anyways, I don't have much willpower....

Also can't wait for GH:III and the Zapper, that'll all keep me busy for a while...

Anyways, I might not post on here until next week so to Ekiushi, have a happy birthday, I'll post up on friday anyways...and also nkbswe5, I think had something on then as well....but I can't remember sorry. Anyways...Talk to yous soon.

Help Please!

Hi everyone
im from the UK where it is impossible to buy a wii at the moment. My kids want one for xmas and as my parents are currently in Sydney do you think they would be able to get one there and bring it back with them next week on there return or are they in short supply in Australia too? Would it be same as UK Version to play the games etc? Any help appreciated...Thanks::wink:

I want to live in Australia...
USA blows...
*lower lip quivers*
*rocks back in forth in fetal position*

@jojo-It wouldnt play in Europe methinks...=[

It should work if they got it here. And I don't think there's any shortage of them. Because UK and Aust. both have PAL, that I'm sure of but you'd have to double check that.

What's so bad about America....?

And I saw the new Futurama movie...Man that was awesome.

gpoleweski if youre not recording tv on your computer just ignore this. What program do you use and what program do you use to compress it afterwards is it in digital or analogue format?

SMG ive got 21stars great game so far although some of the 'mini games' if you can call them that are rather annoying and take many attempts and i think theyre designed to test your patients rather than your skill.

Oh its Ekiushi Happy birthday! hope you get the wii game(s) you want :p

Jo Jo correct my if im wrong but Uk also use Pal so it wouldnt be a problem but you would need a power adaptor, as as far as i know there isnt a shortage of wiis in australia

McCloud problem with Australia is we get games weeks after the US does.

I have a tv card in my computer, TWINHAN DTV it's called. It's digital. And it just records onto Hard Drive, you push a button like on normal TV...To record...And I don't compress it, I just delete it after a while because the files are massive...

The thing about those 'mini-games' is that they may test your patience, but only after testing your skill, because if you fail, then you aren't very skilled if you triumph (can't think of another word) then you have school.

We do get games after the US but we also don't. (in the case of Mario Strikers) And the games are also way over priced here compared to the US...what are they over there like $25-$50? Here they're $45-$130...Rip off, because exchange rates aren't the problem.

Australia gets ripped off for everything. See my Get Smart example a few pages back. You think Wii Games are a rip off, wait until you see that! Get Smart has to be my favourite show of all time, yet I can't even watch them because I refuse to be ripped off by Time Life Australia. You see, if you add 'Australia' to any company it sucks. I was reading a thread about European prices, that claimed that Americans complain about the price of Wii games, at that in Europe it was more expensive, therefore Americans shouldn't complain. Well, I did the conversion - and Europe shouldn't complain either! I would really like to know why we get so ripped off! I mean, it's NOT the damned exchange rates, for some reason things end up being so much more expensive, and I fail to understand why. It's not like we all have more money or something ridiculous like that. So what is it? Oh, and speaking of rip offs - women's clothing is ALWAYS more expensive the mens!

Anyway, as for my SMG progress - there isn't much. I've only got like 4 stars. I haven't played it that long though. I plan on playing it for longer tomorrow. And wow... I just realised what time it is - technically I'll be playing it today.

On a side note I refuse to watch High School Musical.

And No Smoking and gpoleweski you both have the same avatar - seeing how I usually look at avatars, not names this could get confusing. But no matter, I can handle more then one name. Really, I can.

Oh, and gpoleweski good luck on your Maths exam! I dropped Maths after Yr 10, I really sucked at it... I used to actually be rather good at it, but then mid Year 10 my brain died. Or rather the work got hard and my brain couldn't handle it and wondered why it needed a calculator to do 7+14. Seriously the Non-Calculator Section on the Year 10 Certificate KILLED ME.

Wii shortage in Australia? Dunno about Sydney, but there are heaps up here in Northern Rivers. Not that it really helps though.
