Wii in Australia thread

Haha, that's not it at all. Just saying that it had no places of interest is ignorant. But no, not everyone would say something as silly as that. And I could think of many places which are definite tourist attractions within South Australia, but I don't think that's important. I'm just saying, know your **** before you talk about it. Go ahead and suggest Sydney, I think it's a great place for tourists, but don't talk about Adelaide if you don't know anything about it.

Dude.......start listing all the attractions, its not that hard is it?

I looked up a list of top 10 attractions in Adelaide, I'm seeing: train museums, an oval, a town hall. Thats my part of the "reasearch", so now I "know my ****".

Mate if theyre 'places of interest', Sydney has plenty of them. PLUS all the stuff that makes it a world renowned tourist attraction.

But I'm still interested to hear about all the touristy places that would interest overseas visitors you are talking about, cos you havent mentioned any yet, merely insulted me and called me ignorant.

I'm thinking....unique places, where people could take a photo and be like "WOW! You were in front of the Opera house!!"...."You were at the Eiffel Tower!"...."You were at the Empire State Building!"...."You were at the Adelaide State Librabry..."

Well if we're talking about South Australia, I'd say the Naracoorte Caves - a world heritage spot, also go over to Kangaroo Island - a good place to see a lot of native Australian animals in the wild, and while there also the "Remarkable Rocks" and Seal Bay. If you're looking for things to do around Adelaide, go for the Adelaide Museum, there's a great Indigenous Australia exhibit there... then over to the Migration Museum, which is interesting the first time. The Botanical Gardens are worth checking out, too. Go down Rundle Street and Rundle Mall, check out what's cracking in Australian shops... I could go on, but I don't think I need to.

And there is no "WOW" about the Opera House... it's pretty boring (this coming from a non-Sydney-sider, too). It doesn't really do anything and you don't go inside. Good for a glance, but that's it. And the Harbour Bridge is the same. I mean sure, you can choose to climb it, but no one really does and I've heard it's not that good anyway. I think, if in Sydney, it'd be better to go to Manly, check that out, go to the Powerhouse Museum and stuff, rather than just looking at two objects.

I never really got the idea of checking out famous landmarks either, but it seems the going thing with tourists *shrugs*.

You CAN go in the Opera House if you are seeing a show...if you can be arsed.

Sif you wouldnt want to climb over Harbour Bridge, does seem pretty awesome... not sure how much it costs though... I'll have to check sometime.

I tihnk the biggest shame with Sydney, is that if you want to get the best view, and go up Centrepoint Tower it costs you $25...thats a bit harsh for an elevator ride.


BTW, of course Sydney has 'attractions' like that, but I'm sure Adelaide's have their own twist.

If I was a tourist I'd rather spend the day at the beach than climbing some bridge. I've never been up the Centrepoint Tower, never really interested me.

Like I said, I had an amazing time in Bordeaux, even though the "attractions" of Bordeaux weren't anywhere near as famous as those in Paris - Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, etc. (all of which I ended up seeing anyway, lolz). Just being in the different environment is so amazing; you notice things that you wouldn't at home, like how amazing some of the architecture is. I was more than happy to just go into town on the weekends when I was in Bordeaux.

I couldn't stand it if it was humid. That's the best thing about Adelaide... low humidity. When we stopped over in Singapore it was like, death. Adelaide's fantastic like that.

Ah well, its humid here. I didn't think today was so bad. Relatively low humidity at something like 60% from memory. And yes, that is low for me.

Although Adelaide is... 8%. Goddamnit. Still, it's Adelaide.
Uh, trying to insult it doesn't make me feel any better about it.

But still, at least it's not 45 degrees. As I said, 60% humidity is nothing.

i was really shocked about summer this yearwe have only had a couple of 35*+ days here. usually we get them untill mid febuary

1: who picks their holiday destination to impress other people

2: holidays arent always about rushing around to see as many tourist attractions as you can, sometimes people want to relax. and if relaxation is what you want, then adelaide is the go. none of this super fast paced atmosphere. you can take a tour of the wineries in the barossa valley (world quality wines). kangaroo island is a great place to relax, as is victor harbour.

if i was coming to aust for a lengthy period of time, i would take a week in the gold coast for the theme parks, a couple days each in melb and sydney then another week in SA to chill. even perth is a great place to chill out, and the swan river is pretty damn nice.

site seeing does not a perfect holiday make.

Well, I can't really say I'd holiday in the Gold Coast for the themeparks... I've done them multiple times sooo... Oh, I might go to Movie World again, but that's only because I haven't been there since I was about 8. All of the other ones, I've been there recently enough. And I would hate to do a week up there and visit all the theme parks. Oh god no.

Personally, I wouldn't want to go to Perth for a holiday. This is nothing against Perth. It's just for me, it would mean I'd have to take a plane to either Melbourne or Sydney and then connect to Perth. It takes far too long. I could get to New Zealand in the same amount of time, but enjoy it more. Because Perth has no skiing.

I would not want to go to SA either. I have yet to hear anything about it that would get me there. The attractions listed don't do anything for me. For once I am not trying to say anything against SA, I just wouldn't go there myself. Much like I wouldn't go on a surfing holiday or make plans to dive the great barrier reef. Not my thing.

That said, I also wouldn't go to Sydney for a holiday. Not now anyway. I've been there and done the sights, no need to do it again. If I went to Sydney, it would purely be for two day trip - to take in a show or something. I guess of couse that does count as a holiday, just a very short one. If I could watch the shows up the Gold Coast I would. But as it's either Sydney or Brisbane, in terms of travel it really doesn't make a considerable difference, so wherever the show is I'd try to go. I guess when I talk about holidays, I am talking about at least a week.

As for Tweed Heads/Coolangatter. I could live there and enjoy it, but holiday? Save for a weekend thing, I wouldn't wan't to do it. Maybe I get bored easily with trips to the beach - after all, I live in Byron, we have better beaches.

Oh no, I'd much rather spend my holidays overseas. And if I was restricted to Australia. Well, there's Perisher. That is my thing.

Nyeh, the thing I hate about ski places in Australia is that thery're so few so they make you spend thousand when you could take in much nicer views in New Zealand and have more of an adventure on the way...Speking of which we might be going over there sometime this year or next. My dads always wanted to so we better do it now before anything happens:lol:...Don't laugh.

Akh, first day back at school was ok, cept for the randomness telling that we had extension english after school today. RIGHT OUT OF THE BLUE. Great. The teacher can't string 5 words together there's aways an um or ok, so yeah.

NZ is never a pace that i would have a intrest in visiting... unless it was to pick up one of those VZR/Autech/ VZR N1 pulsars :drool:
