Big W refused to give you your money back? You didn't do it right then. I got my money back when my Wii decided to screw up - and they didn't have any Wiis in stock. In fact, I've got money back on a DVD boxset that cost like $60 before - when they had no more in stock. Of course, they might say 'No, we don't do that for wrong selection,' But you don't really need to explain why you are returning it, you just are.
Next time scream and rage. Maybe it doesn't help, but it makes you feel better. But its not right for them to refuse to give your money back, even though you returned it a few days later, and most likely unused. I also believe you could claim you parents asked for 'Resident Evil 4' and was given the wrong game, therefore its not exactly a change of mind. How are parents meant to know it was the wrong game? It seems entirely the fault of the person who sold it to you. You should have got your money back.
Places always try and screw you over. Big W always tries it. Depends on the store, and who you talk to, I guess. In Ballina Big W they once refused to take back an item my Mum bought, they said she would have to send it off to the supplier. I took a similar item to another Big W and they exchanged it straight away. I worked at Woolies - ranting and raving helps. While it doesn't ALWAYS - there are occasions when it does.
