Why is that people call the 2008 a bad year for the Wii?

It always struck me weird when people complained about the year of 2008 being a bad year of the Wii. It seems that the 2008 E3 conference rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. There were a lot of games that came out in 2008 worth playing.

I would say the games down as far as Star Wars Force Unleashed were pretty good, maybe not AAA titles but certainly decent. After that some get a bit dodgy but there should be something there for almost anyone.

I thought that 2008 was ok for games. It was a bit of a transitional year in terms of quality and I think that the lack of Nintendo titles at E3 made it seem worse along with the 360/PS3 getting big holiday titles where as the Wii got some good games but not real blockbusters.

This year is already shaping up to be much better (especially from 3rd parties). April was one of the leanest months for Wii games but they still had Excitebots out, where as the 360/PS3 had very little, in fact IGN couldn't even name a game of the month on either of them.

That's why I only said as far down as Force Unleashed. There are a few good games after that like Skate It but some of the others are a bit dodgy.

Yeah, I agree with you Godwind...08' was not as bad as most people thought with the Wii. I blame it almost entirely on this new devision between Hardcore/Casual games. Back in the day, some of the best games featured furry little creatures, or blue-eyed golden haired homosexual looking little boys. But now a days if the game isn't about Steroid pumped ex-marines carrying shotguns as big as their entire body no one considers it hardcore. This is why games like De Blob (actually good) don't get the recognition they deserve.
