Using hardware from overseas

Hi, I am wondering whether I am able to buy hardware...say a controller from Hong Kong to be used on a Wii I plan to get in Australia? Is it compatible or not?

Also, can I buy the Gamecube FreeLoader from overseas, or anywhere?

Any info would be appreciated

Sorry to double post but in Australia..the Wii games are for PAL..can I buy games from Hong Kong (also PAL I think) for my Aussie Wii?
