understanding wii console

i have had the wii a few days now but i just dont understand this console
i know you can make your own mii and send to other consoles but i just dont see the fun in just being able to send messages.
i do like the sports games as they are alot of fun especially bowling with the 4 player option.
so could someone explain to me more about this console because i feel i probably have missed something here.

fun in sending messages? why would it be "fun"? its the same as sending a text or email....you do it becuase you need/want to....lol it isnt supposed to be fun.

Umm yea what does sending messages have to do with fun? Its basicly like sending an email or text. That is just one part of the console, you have the games and the internet and shopping, soon to be news channel.. it is what it is.
