two questions regarding wii

I have only two doubts left about wii hardware settings...
1.- I have a broandband wireless router at home secured with WAP service... how are "wii" going to connect to internet and how do I put the password using the wii-mote??
2.- Can we use the gc controller instead of the classic controller for downloaded games?? These 2 controllers have the same buttons, no?

Though I highly doubt it that we can use Gamecube controllers for the VC games, that would be awesome. xP It'd come in handy for me, considdering I'm stocked up on GC controllers. xP
