i dont know about all of em, but some of them are CLEARLY clones.GigaRidley said:^ I think they're still clones, but they are different enough that I probably won't notice the similarities like I did in melee.

hopefully they are as different as you say...unlinke in melee...and its really the people like lucas who anny me, is he different in any way?spiff-ssbb said:if you cant recognize similarities how can they possibly be clones? and to me the closest to a clone is ganon...or possibly toon link because he shares the most moves in my opinion to CF. but hes still not a clone... completely different moves: side special, f air
similar but still different moves: up special, up tilt, even his d air is different now that CF cant spike with it anymore.
i havent seen enough toon link vids to make a fair comparason to link other than the obvious speed difference
as to the other 'cloned' characters (refering to the spacies)
since they are all from the same seriese does it not make sense that they have the same specials? would it really make sense if fox had a laser while falco ran around planting bombs and wolf shot out arrows? no it wouldnt so it makes sense that they all have specials that LOOK the same. the cool part is that each character uses those specials in a different way. some are faster/longer. some spike. some stun, some are thrown. and they ALL have a completely unique set of ground a button attacks which makes them all unique enough for me to be not clones.
that depends if you count samus and zero suit samus differently, i dont, but some do.GigaRidley said:Actually, Lucas IS rather different, he's got different smashes and everything.
But still, I don't like him; he looks too much like ness (he even has basically the same shirt!) AND Earthbound (only 3 games, with 2 being released ONLY IN JAPAN) should NOT have more reps than Metroid (an extremely popular Nintendo franchise with over 10 games, beginning from the NES all the way to the Wii)
back to your previous comment as giga said he has different a button moves and apparantly his snake thing can teather recover. his special moves all look the same but they react differently with different knock back and direction and stuff.Bowserizer said:that depends if you count samus and zero suit samus differently, i dont, but some do.
if they are so different, why not put in the little extra effort and make ALL new characters instead of these quazi-new ones.spiff-ssbb said:back to your previous comment as giga said he has different a button moves and apparantly his snake thing can teather recover. his special moves all look the same but they react differently with different knock back and direction and stuff.
for example his PK fire goes straight in the air as opposed to down at a 45 like ness and it doesnt burn characters in place it knocks them back.
to the quote:
i do count them as different because each can be played and selected individualy, they just have the added advantage of being able to switch back and forth
