How many stages were in Melee?

Edit: BTW, has there been any confirmation on how many events there are in Event mode?

Melee had 29 stages and there are only 41 events in Brawl

If stages that is alot of choices plus your own stages.

To me the 1v1 seems kind of empty. I was hoping there would be more people doing 1v1v1v1.
