And regarding the thing I just posted, DLC might be the hero in this situation. Don't even try to deny it, Assasin, if characters people like (aka all of them to different extents) are cut due to time constraints, they may be added later as DLC.

Stop twistin' my words. I just mean if Sakurai is gonna be a jerk and not delay the game a bit to get all the characters in, I'd rather get them later as DLC than not get them at all.

Who said he wouldn't delay the game? At the current rate, there isn't time for all the characters. A simple delay would solve these problems.

Eh, yeah. I was looking at this a bit too much.

Sakurai is a bit of a perfectionist, and on more than one occasion he’s had to delay a game in order to get it just right before releasing it. Super Smash Bros. Brawl was among his delayed games, and it looks like he’s trying to avoid that problem with the next iteration of the franchise.
