You probably won't believe this but Toon Link's smash attacks are STRONGER then TP Link's!!! Not only that, Toon Link's FSA and Down-Grab are stronger then TP Link's.

The damage guide on gamefaqs says so

Just like I predicted, only the long time fans of the original link will play as him instead of toon link. It was the same in melee, most people played as young link because they had the same moves but young links were stronger.

Yeah, probably.

toon link - long bair combos, potentially dair OHKO (unlikely to be used), fast grapple, back throw sends at dumb angle, all his moves have good damage, range, and power, and he combos well and can camp super well with all 3 projectiles, and his recovery is amazing.

Yeah, I'd definitely play as Toon Link because he's WAY FASTER then TP Link and Toon Link looks cooler then TP Link. He's #5 in my "Top 10 list"

I wouldn't call Ike top tier, but he's up there. Anyways I don't think tiers will matter in brawl like they did in melee. Here's a cool quote:

one thing that makes orginal link better than toon is that the real links sword is bigger and you know what they say about guys and big swords, WOW did that make me sound gay or what! (NOT GAY THOUGH NOT)
