there is still a classic mode, people. no need to fear.
Classic
This is the classic single-player mode—hence the name, Classic.
In this mode, you try to clear each stage as you go.
Choose your favorite character and a difficulty level, then start the match!
Fight whoever appears!
The world you fight in is pretty much determined based on stage number. Stage 1 is based on The Legend of Zelda. Stage 3 is based on Pokémon. And each time, the characters are chosen randomly.
You’ll also find the status of enemies and rules of the match vary slightly to include things like Giant matches, Metal matches, and Team battles.
Heart icons indicate your allies.
You cleared the stage!
So... You just keep playing until you reach the end. Easy to understand, right?
Huh? You’re wondering what the coins on the Stage Clear screen are for? Um, you think they’re there to make it look more lively?
No, no. You earn and save these up little by little as you play. And supposedly you can use them somewhere. But no—you don’t use them to shop.

Classic mode We expected it and now its back. Not much else to say if you have played smash before you know what it is

yeah im glad theres random characters on set stages. maybe thatll make it more complicated to unlock characters like you have to fight sonic on the sonic stage to unlock knuckles--just an example. it gives the game more replayability thogh IMO

Why be so negative? I for one will be playing classic mode much more this time around simply because of its image. That screen with Link is nothing short of EPIC. The beginning screens were always boring because they used their character models, but now they're using pictures and that single beginning screen has changed the overall mode in a big way, for me atleast.

More pokemon?
According to what he said in this update the stages of classic mode all have a theme and the characters that have to do with them are chosen randomly to represent that stage and for you to battle them in that classic match. What got me was that he said therewas a pokemon stage and as of now they have only one pokemon character to pick from and thats pikachu so that means there are more pokemon characters coming. Any prodictions to which pokemon will become a character in the game?
Well theres also pokemon trainer but do u really think they are gonna leave it like that??

^Jigglypuff will be in Brawl, and most likely (although I can't confirm this) Mewtwo will also.

^I was only referring to characters that have not been announced.
Although I know nothing about Lucario in the pokemon world, he seems to be a perfect fit for Brawl and I would love it if he made it into the game. I think we can expect atleast one current generation pokemon, and I think Lucario has a good chance of filling that spot.
