no it makes me sad. you need the ds. the guy at the store told me it trained and etc on the bttle but he lied. you can only get pkm n train and etc with the ds. without the ds you can only use rental pkm unless someone comes over with a wii remote to ur house and gives you stuff.
so basically u use batle pkm from the rental cards to play all the colls. you can earn points and badges and stuff but no pkm as far as i know. i got the game not knowing that...i dont have a ds so...the game gets a little boring wiht no one wanting to battle ur rental pokemon...eventually i guess i'll get the ds and pearl or diamond.

wanna be my wii friend? i got the wii sports, play games and brian academy and mario party 8. im not sure how to do everything yet but i want mii parade friends and stuff!! :)
