Say Goodbye to Those Flashing Red Lights of Death Forever!

really?

what about all of the 2006 360's which are still getting 3 RLOD?

also there are a few elites now experiencing the problem.

the issue is, M$ rushed the 360 out and still fails to see there is
an inherant design flaw regarding the BGA type solders used on the
CPU and GPU, this coupled with the stupid idea of only using fixing
points at the corners of the motherboard, leads to excessive flexing
when the unit is warm.

many have tried different methods of fixing the 360, from "erasers" cut
down to 4mm stuck on the back of the memory chips (this was a
brasilian method apparently), people have unhooked the cooling fans and
let the console run for a couple of minutes to "re-flow" the solder, some
have put the ****ing things in the oven....

as mentioned, if in warranty send the bloody thing back.

if out of warranty, and you don't mind messing about with a "bricked" console
have a look at the x-clamp replacement tutorials over on xbox-scene.

=| that's why i said rarely. It's mainly caused by the soldering issue... but it can also be caused by keeping the console in an unventilated area

THIS GOES WITHOUT SAYING WITH ANY ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT!!!

i really don't understand how many people have said they keep it in a cupboard or underneath their dvd players and then complain about an over heat failure! it's their own fault!!! that and Microsoft for not soldering it right in the 1st place...

( i still love you Microsoft...)

---

Interesting fact:

My friend refuses to buy an Xbox 360 because he hates Microsoft... stupid Mac users... - the Mac part of Apple is going out of business in 2008 if they can't sell enough computers, anyways...

i really can't understand why...

Windows is the best selling operating system and has the latest hardware and the most developers... and yet apparently... (according to Mac users) it's crap?! :eek:ut:

it's the way you put the opening sentence...it ONLY happens on the
2005 models...but in the next breath, it also happens on later consoles.

tbh, i don't think the 3 RLOD discriminates between ages of consoles.

a friend at work has a launch console, always uses it, has it in the
horizontal position on top of a VCR (which incidently gets quite warm)
and he's had no trouble with it..(you watch it f*** up now!!).

yet another friend had a late 2006 model, hardly used it and went tits
up after 3 months.

one of the reasons for getting rid of mine was the fact that it was coming
up to the end of the warranty period, and i didn't really want the hassle
of having to get it repaired if it went awol.

i'll wait until sometime next year when the elite is readily avaliable and
hopefully, a few hardware fixes will be in place, they'll use a quieter
dvd drive (which is right pain in the arse) and hopefully, the 65micron
chip will be readily available for cooler running.

=| oops... that 'only' was supposed to be in italics suggesting that i'm being sarcastic... sorry lol

Only (that's what people are saying) but it does happen rarely in the later models

sorted ^^ (Y)
