You really think there's any possibility that humble beginnings of Game Freak 'n Masuda's imagination planned out the designs for five Generations of Fire-type starters from the beginning? According to Trago, Gamefreak probably saw into the future and know that it's an undiscovered species.

Or as Karpmod says, maybe they noticed the tree-naming recently and will follow that method of naming for the professors.
