Yes Wii games can be played online. The current online line up is only small with Pokemon Battle Revolution and Mario Strikers Charged. However more games are being completed with integrated online play so you'll just have to wait for those!

Not sure about Brawl yet.

Brawl will probably be online, it would be stupid if they didn't.
