Just a little side note for the release date, heres some info I found about other Nintendo CONSOLES, and when Mario Kart came out for them:

Super Nintendo
Console: August 13, 1991
Mario Kart: September 1, 1992

Nintendo 64
Console: September 29, 1996
Mario Kart: February 10, 1997

Gamecube
Console: November 18, 2001
Mario Kart: November 17, 2003

-All of these are US dates by the way.
