Holding the power button down for around 10 seconds will make it have a red light. This means it is using a minimum amount of power, not even WiiConnect24 is active.

There is no lower power mode besides just unplugging or turning it off at the wall

Same with most VCRs, TVs, DVD Players, and Stereos.

ANYTHING that you can turn ON with A REMOTE is already in a low-power state "watching" for you to hit the power button on the remote.

These "vampire" electronics are thought to be using a pretty hefty percentage (1-5%?) of the US' energy every year..

Actually, most TVs and VCRs have a physical switch on the front to fully turn it off.
