The Light, however, will stay lit when nintendo has sent you a message. That is until you check the message. But the games freezing in the same spot sounds like a game bug and not the system itself. I bought Fanatastic Four some months ago and it has bugs in it as well. I never had a chance to beat the game because it has a glitch. You should take it back to the game store to see it they can exchange it. Then if the problem persists then it just maybe another problem. Good Luck!
