Hey moderators of wiichat,

thanks again for banishing the brawl clans!

Now with medal of honor: heroes 2 on the horizon someone thought he was smart and uses the term: Social Group instead of clan. He is advertising for his clan a lot with links to his sites and recruiting members.

Could you please do something about it! The topics are in wiigaming. This really is the same thing as the brawl clan.

I couldn't disagree with you more. :) Why not make a sub-forum for all clan related chat, it would prevent members from leaving WiiChat to other forums which support such a feature. Whether you like it or not WiiChat is a large community with many members interested in joining such clans. Many members join already to post friend codes and the like, adding a clan sub-forum would only increase activity. If you hate seeing clan threads so much don't look at them.

I don't really want to join a clan but if I did it would be very convenient to just look at what was happening on WiiChat, rather then having to explore the web in search of a clan site.

haha thats good to hear that Im not the only one thats gettin annoyed.

I dont agree with youre solution though.
Well even dont create a place where they can "create" clans. A clan cant simply be created in a forum topic. :p

I have never seen this before, people creating clans in forum topics. Its just some newb move here on wiichat lol :p

Its just creeeyyyzzzy :D

This seems a little different to me though.

I would guess this group is for people that all know each other on Wii Chat and whom would like to play with each other exclusively. I don't see them fighting other 'social groups' just each other. I really don't see it being any different than a friend code sharing thread. Then again, I wasn't here when the decision was made to ban clans, so I have no idea what the reasoning was behind it.

Personally I don't care either way though, I don't plan on joining one anytime soon, heh.

Ya that would be a good idea to make a category for clans and "social groups" in the forum topics.

That's pretty much how I see it. EA Nation doesn't have FCs, so if you want to play with people you know from WiiChat, you have to have a little organization, not dissimilar from FC threads, just scaled differently because of how different this game is from most FC titles: Since you can play with more people (32) than any other game, you need to be able schedule games further in advance and notify everyone of the time.

Rule regarding clans:

NO MORE CLANS

There is a new rule being applied to WiiChat.
There are to be no more threads or advertisements (private messages included) about clans. This includes (but is not limited to) clans for video games and clans dedicated to anything else.
If you wish to create/join a clan, do so on your own. Not on WiiChat.
Any currently existing threads about clans will be deleted.
Any threads made on clans in the future will be deleted, and you will receive a warning/ban.

Why clans were removed:

The reason as to why the staff at the time decided to remove clans and clan discussions is due to the fact that there was quite a bit of flaming and spamming with new threads being made regarding clans. Along with that various clan members began getting into "clan wars" within the forum. Thus, to prevent all of this spam and flaming a rule was put in place to prevent further problems.

Good! Now go remove the 2 or 3 social groups in wiigaming ! :p

I can see the reasoning of the first social group. You are right about that. Gettin in touch with each other.

But now theres 2 or 3 other guys that are forming a clan ( calling it social group as well ) they go about saying
No noobs
teamspeak
be online a lot or get kicked

sounds heck of a lot like a clan to me

Clans also play games. And you play games. So you must be a clan.

Actually I haven't heard anyone who's doing a group say no noobs or make threats of getting kicked (from any of the groups, though I've only seen one other pop up) for inactivity. I know the first group starter wanted people who knew how to play the game. He wanted to play with other people, not teach them how to play. That's different from "no noobs".

I use teamspeak with total strangers when playing MS Allegiance. Different ones each time i play. When I get together and play, especially a shooter like MOHH2, I want to play with tactics, and that means voicechat (or even text to a lesser extent) is a huge positive (though to my knowledge, not a requirement of any group). TS is a huge boon to even 1 on 1 games, giving more of the old offline multiplayer fun. It's not merely a clan tool, and encouraging it's use isn't the same as requiring it.

Probably the best way to distinguish between the two, social groups and clans, so you still get the benefits of keeping in touch with wiichat players that play your game, and avoid the clan problems that got them banned is Budo's suggestion. No competition outside the group--the people there only play with or against each other (at least in context of the group--they could obviously still play random strangers or anyone on their own time). That would eliminate most of the clan complaints like flaming and spamming. Other spam concerns are alleviated by the fact that MOHH2 will never attract the kind of attention that SSBB or pokeman do, and that generally speaking, ages are going to average a higher as well. Social groups could be required not to allow members who spam or flame as well, thus incentivizing both good group behavior and good individual behavior.

Well ok I can agree with most of your good post.

I use VOIP in bf2142 a lot as well and I like to teamwork in almost every other game.

I think that once its clear what a game mohh2 is that it will get a lot of attention. Its a fps like halo 1 on the wii. But one where that you can take online ;)

Anyways, to justify my request heres the link for there topic:

http://www.wiichat.com/nintendo-wii-gaming/41168-forming-mohh2-social-group-anyone-down.html

They even link to there own forum. I could not even post a youtube video I made in my link but so far they have had there link to another forum ( far more "deadly" than my own link ) up there for like 4 days.

EDIT:
w000t thank you mods :)

Could we at least get a sticky on the EA Nation friend request thread? Seems like that would help keep spam and dupes from piling up. Once it falls off the first page, it's just gonna get replicated.
