Manhunt 2 banned

I wonder if the Wiis motion controls played a part in this game being banned, a ban for one console may be taken as a blanket ban for all.
Never thought of that.. probably has stuff like using the Wiimote to stab the hell outta people and such  sadly, sounds great..

lol at green blood, reminds me of old Turok games.

Unforutunately no. If you look at porn, for example, what is legally available in Amsterdam is very different to what is legally available in the UK. We tend to be far more restrictive than mainland Europe.

Agreed, but that doesn't stop me purchasing it from Holland. This is the power of the internet. Get caught and UK law could punish me, but that's if I get caught.

I owned Carmageddon and Thrill Kill, both banned in the UK

Somehow I can't see Greater Manchester Police setting up a task force to deal with Manhunt 2 owners.

"waggle-strangling" as opposed to A B A B A buttons bashing.

Without a doubt that has to play a huge role in it. It wouldnt suprise me at all if studies showed that making the movements rather then just pressing buttons causes more aggressive thoughts or actions..

thats a really bad news...remember playing it on PC...man that games ownz :D

As expected Ireland has followed suit with the ban:

A prohibition order has been made by IFCO in relation to the video game Manhunt 2. The Order was made on 18th June 2007 under Sec 7 (1) (b) of the Video Recordings Act 1989 which refers to ‘acts of gross violence or cruelty (including mutilation and torture)’.

IFCO recognizes that in certain films, DVDs and video games, strong graphic violence may be a justifiable element within the overall context of the work. However, in the case of Manhunt 2, IFCO believes that there is no such context, and the level of gross, unrelenting and gratuitous violence is unacceptable.

^^ don't see i0n post more than once in a thread too much these days.

So...wouldn't all it take...is just order it from somewhere where it IS legal? I mean how does banning a game in certain regions help at all if the person can get it from somewhere else?

That doesnt explain why the PS2 version was banned.

Dam thats s bummer for those who were gonna get it, well i wasn't but this could go on the downfall of the wii list of being over protective to kids.

...it was on the PS2 aswell smashfan, so its not just the Wii.

Sorry for you UK guys, well I live in the US, but my parents probably won't let me get it. :(

There is still some hope
Rockstar can appeal the ban to the Video Appeals Committee, an independent body chaired by John Woods. According to Sue Clark of the BBFC, there have only been about 20 appeals since 1984, and about half have been successful. The bulk of games to be banned by the BBFC have been pornographic; the last mainstream game to receive a ban was Carmageddon in 1997.
